You might say these guitars are Taylor-made to exacting specifications. Taylor-Listug, which does business as Taylor Guitars, is one of the premier acoustic guitar manufacturers in the US. It markets more than 130 models and styles of six- and twelve-string guitars known for their quality workmanship. Played by such artists as Dave Matthews, Jason Mraz, and Prince, the guitars range in price from moderate to thousands of dollars (for a Brazilian rosewood 12-string model). Taylor also sells acoustic basses, guitar accessories, and apparel through more than 800 dealers in the US and 25 other countries. The company is owned by president Bob Taylor and CEO Kurt Listug, who started the business in 1974.
In addition to its extensive acoustic line, Taylor also sells a line of acoustic/electric hybrid guitars and, in early 2008, began selling a line of solid-body electric guitars. The electric guitar line features three different styles and marks the company's first move into the electric guitar market.
Based in California, Taylor Guitars operates a 143,000 sq. ft. complex comprised office and factory space. – less
