You'll find plenty of rolling stock at Bridgestone Retail Operations' (BSRO) stores. BSRO is the US retail division of Japan-based tire giant Bridgestone, and it owns and operates more than 2,140 service centers in about 45 states under the Firestone Complete Auto Care, Expert Tire, Tires Plus, and Wheel Works banners. BSRO's stores offer a variety of automotive repair services, including drive train, engine, heating and cooling, steering, and suspension maintenance, as well as tire sales. The business serves both consumers and commercial clients. BSRO, which was named BFS Retail & Commercial until 2009, also maintains its own credit card operation, Credit First National Association.
The change came about when Bridgestone decided to eliminate the Firestone name from its subsidiaries. Management simplified Bridgestone subsidiaries' naming conventions so that Firestone would be identified as an independent brand.
BSRO is working to boost its revenues amid the US recession. Tough economic conditions have prompted many Americans to drive their vehicles longer, and the company has been expanding its retail network nationwide in an effort to make regular maintenance more convenient. The company announced about 75 new service centers would open in new and existing markets during 2011. In 2010 BSRO added 50 new locations (but also sold or closed more than 40), and in 2009 it opened nearly 70 outlets. – less
