Innovative solutions using leading edge technology
Senior ECM Engineer (Current Employee), Jersey City, NJ – March 21, 2013
Pros: provides excellant balance of work and personal life
Cons: poor pay, little room for avancement
Design end to end solutions for brokerage operations using ECM platforms and tools. Learned to support and maintain mission critical applications in a high pressure environment. Management is relaxed and flexible. Co-workers are collegial and professional. Hardest part of the job is the extreme visibility of the application to technology management – more... and business users. Most enjoyable part of the job is family based values of management. – less

Investment consultant (Former Employee), Long island ny – December 6, 2012
Pros: decent benefits and employees are friendly in low stress sales environment
Cons: no room for advancement. if you have a book of business better off elsewhere.

Basically calling the same people the investment consultant that you replaced. Then 2 years from know the new ic will replace you.

Fantastic company to work in especially if you are very interested in financial services!
Infrastructure Management Intern (Former Employee), Jersey City, NJ – November 12, 2012
Pros: great coworkers, collaborative colleagues, open environment
Cons: getting software pushed to your machine can be a pain
My stay at TD Ameritrade (TDA) was for an eight-week internship position. To put things in a short phrase, it was a phenomenal corporate place to work in. It's hard to describe a typical day since every week was different in goals and expectations, but I can say that you will learn a lot especially if you're fresh out of college. The colleagues you'll – more... work with and the environment are very open and allow you to leverage any resources you need in order to get you up to speed. That would be the most enjoyable part aside from the great people you'll be working with on the job...the unlimited access to a wealth of information. It's all up to you whether or not you leverage it fully while there. – less

A very good company with very good work environment.
Business Analyst (Current Employee), Houston, TX – November 5, 2012
Pros: good work environment
A typical day started with going over documents, and revising the previous days progress. A couple of meetings with the clients and the team. Fast-paced, multi-tasking, challenging, lots of interaction with other members of the team and lots of documentation define a typical day.

Productive, education, fun, teamwork.
Private Client Services Broker (Current Employee), Fort Worth, TX – October 23, 2012
Pros: good benefits
Cons: no opportunity for advancement
A typical day at work consists of answering phone calls and helping clients with a variety of issue ranging from, logging into their accounts to explaining complex strategies and educating clients on investing.
The job is oriented around sales and customer services with management emphasizing sales.
The co-worker are fun to be around and make the job – more... a lot more enjoyable.
The most difficult part of the job is sales if that is not something you like to do. – less

Administrative (Former Employee), Columbia, Maryland – October 23, 2012
This office is the most unhealthy, unprofessional and toxic work environment that I (and others who have worked here, and would gladly confirm), have ever had the misfortune to work in; whose primary managers, female and male alike, are shameful bullies who will quash any independent, creative thought or idea you may attempt to display. It is a revolving – more... door where you will find absolutely no job training, very little tech support, no cooperative or encouraging team play, uncertainty and mistrust of one’s co-workers, all stemming from, and as a result of, toxic managers including onsite HR. Do yourself a huge favor, and stay far away from this place. – less

I don't think it's the whole company, just the Columbia office! Someone needs to come in and do something!

Best brokerage firm in the industry!
Client Service Specialist (Current Employee), Tampa, FL – October 16, 2012
Pros: fantastic value proposition means clients come to us - no cold calling!
Cons: lower payouts, but much higher volume of incoming assets
TD Ameritrade is the #1 online brokerage firm for clients, and an amazing place to work. Compared to other firms I've worked for, it's a much more relaxed and team oriented atmosphere. Thanks to TDA's outstanding value to clients, people actually call in wanting to open new accounts daily, and most of your job is contacting existing clients and people – more... that have already expressed an interest in working with us. Salary is very fair, and it's one of only a few financial services firms where it's possible to make good money while maintaining a sane work/life balance. – less
