A Nice Job, Not a Career
Assistant Store Manager, Austin, TX - May 6, 2015
A typical day would be spent helping customers find what they need with a very strong emphasis on customer service. Other daily duties include preparing purchase orders to ship, checking in incoming freight orders, and organizing inner company transfers.
I learned how to juggle many responsibilities at once and lead a team through very busy, as well as very slow, retail seasons.
Management on the store level was excellent but the company as a whole seems to suffer from low pay. Coworkers were great also but the low pay causes constant turnover.
The hardest part of the job was the lack of communication from upper management on meeting deadlines/completing duties and company wide procedures.
The most enjoyable part of the job was the wonderful people I met there as customers or coworkers. I also really enjoyed working with educational products and helping people help their children.
