Backfill position: Provide network engineering installation, configuration, and support of communication networks and related technologies for UCSF Medical Center.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Assist in the operations and maintenance of enterprise data network components to sustain and support operational, mission critical, clinical and business systems. Provide second tier technical support for network infrastructure problem resolution. Provide technical guidance and mentoring for other Information Technology teams Adhere to all UC and UCSF Medical Center policies and standards.

OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Be available 24X7 for the resolution of network problems that affect the ability to provide patient care. Be available for rotation assignment for on-call support duties Be available for work shift hours that include weekends and off-hours as part of regular work shift. This role may access confidential information. As such, employee is expected to adhere and abide to UCSF confidentiality agreements, policies and procedures Response to all emergency “after hour” phone calls and pages within 30 minutes of being contacted. Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field. Supplemented with three (3) years verifiable hands on experiences with commonly implemented routing and switching protocols. Three years verifiable hands on experience with large enterprise, critical network configuration, and troubleshooting. Certifications preferred (CCNP or CCDP in routing and switching) Supplemented with at least three (3) years verifiable hands on experience in large scale implementation.
Three years hands on operational experience with Cisco Router, Catalyst and Nexus network equipment. Experience with other network technologies, such a VPN and Network Security (firewall / IDS) technologies Three years (3) hands on experience with IP, TCPIP, OSPF, EIGRP, and ATM protocol support Two years (2) hands on experience with installation, configuration, and supporting of IEEE 802.11 Wireless network technologies (Cisco and Aruba) Excellent writing, speaking, analytical, organizational and customer service skills are required. Ability to actively communicate with all levels of UCSF Medical Center employees including management, users and engineering staff. Attentiveness to detail. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to work in a team-oriented environment. Ability to use work-enhanced software, including use of project management tools. See Physical Requirement and work environment section.
