Mortgage Closing Loan Specialist, Funder (Former Employee) – San Jose, CA – August 24, 2017
I really enjoyed getting up to come to work everyday. The people and culture were awesome and the food parties were scrumptious. Work was stable and my job duties were defined and I knew what my responsibilities were.
The unfortunate thing was that after working there nearly 8-9 months through a temp agency, I was offered permanent employment and had accepted the job offer and everything was going great. However when it came down to the I-9 verification process because of a technicality issue with paperwork they let me go.
A solid place to grow your career as it navigates the quickly changing world of Financial Services
Program Manager (Current Employee) – San Jose, CA – November 17, 2015
Having been with Tech CU for a year now, I've found it to be a great place to grow my career. Credit Unions are part of the banking environment, which is undergoing huge changes and, in order to adapt, the organization has to experiment with a wide range of staffing models, service delivery ideas and technology shifts. Not all of those experiments are successful, of course. And change is not always comfortable, but the financial well-being of our Membership has always been front-and-center of the movement I've observed in my time here, with a strong additional focus on the employees' well being. This is also an incredibly friendly place to work: from my very first day I was warmly welcomed by a wide range of staff from all different departments and that spirit has not waned in the past 12 months. Of course, there's always room for improvement, and I look forward to being part of Tech CU's evolution for many years to come.
At their core, senior management lives the values of "Accelerate, Collaborate, Innovate, Cultivate" in ways that I have not found in previous employers. I've had some of the most interesting and intellectually challenging business-related conversations with the staff here since I was in grad school. I've observed a deep willingness to listen on the part of the Executive team, even if that doesn't always result in my ideas or opinions being adopted.
We do have a "Pay for Performance" culture, so bonuses and merit raises are very dependent on both individual achievement and the success of several annual corporate goals. This may be unfamiliar tomore... some people, so if you're interviewing be sure to ask about the performance management structure. And it is a 50-year old company, so sometimes it can feel like turning a cumbersome battleship.
On the whole, I've never had a single regret for leaving a very secure position with my previous employer to jump into the work here at Tech CU.less
Good teams, strong benefit package, friendly co-workers in every department
Not as nimble as a start up, lots of regulations to follow

TechCU sounds great on paper, decent pay (not great), "good benefits", personal/work life balance, "open door" policies, not for profit as credit unions claim to be and more!
The experience at TechCU is much different. They set very high expectations to hit high sales goal monthly and yearly! They go back and fourth on converting to a bank, so they can enforce and justify these goals to its employees! However, even as a credit union they enforce these goals on you!
They are changing the models and the set ups in the branches... They expect the branches to run on three people, and got rid of teller lines so we could focus more on sales! What about customer service and member interaction? Also, with three people you are basically expected to be in the branches at all times for 2 people must be there!
The "open door" policy is completely fabricated! There is a serious lack of communication between upper management And its front line staff! They claim they want to hear front lines ideas and complaints because we are with the members all day.. But does anything change... rarely!
Unless you are one of corporates favorites... There really isn't a sense of job security! There's a lot of drama that goes on and it's petty and not worth your time!
Basically if you have a job in the back office, Techcu is a great company to work for!
High Turnover rate, positions currently open are frontline staff, favoritism, lack of communication
Financial Center Representative (Former Employee) – Dublin, CA – July 28, 2014
The office was small and trying to branch out into a new community, however, there wasn't a lot of foot traffic. I enjoyed working in the larger branches and headquarters buildings as there was more to do. The only downside to working in the busier offices was hours of commute traffic. The medical benefits and vacation pay was great, but it was difficult to get the time off with such a small staff and little to no coverage. Our office was 1-2 hours commute from the other branches and it was hard to find anyone willing to make the drive.
Some good benefits/Bad Management not a healthy environment
Call Center Representative (Former Employee) – 2010 North First Street – July 11, 2013
I do not recommend this job to any one I have worked at other Credit Unions in the past and this one takes the cake! Call center Managers are the worse you can not trust them, there is no leader and do not support the employees in the call-center. There is no room to grow and a lot of favoritism the Managers have no management skills, incompetent!
Member Contact Center Specialist (Former Employee) – San Jose – May 30, 2013
The company itself it great, Management however (contact center) is terrible. unless you Look a certain way, or are willing to brown nose, you will not do well. In order to make it there, you will need to be accepted by the Contact Center Management. Good Luck
