Teck Cominco Limited is engaged primarily in the exploration for, and the development and production of natural resources. Its principal products are copper concentrate and copper cathode, metallurgical coal and gold, as well as zinc concentrate and refined zinc. Other products include silver, various specialty metals, chemicals and fertilizers, and – more... energy. It also sells electrical power that is surplus to its requirements at the Trail metallurgical operations. In September 2007, Teck Cominco completed the acquisition of Aur Resources Inc. In August 2008, it acquired Global Copper Corp. In October 2008, it announced the launch of its simplified name and brand, Teck, and the formation of five new business units specializing in copper, metallurgical coal, zinc, gold and energy. In October 2008, Teck Cominco Limited acquired all of the assets of Fording Canadian Coal Trust.
