Started in the Accounting Department and ended up in the factory

I started as a billing specialist in the accounting department, and there for about a year. Company decided to combine the billing and accounts rec. department and because all employees were in the union, I moved to the factory because I didn't have enough seniority.

I loaded the oil line with the final product was oil could be put into the compressor. I did this for another year. I left the company due to my father-in-law falling gravely ill.

The pay was very good for the area.

The pros of working for Tecumseh were that it was probably the highest paying job in the area at the time along with good benefits.

The cons would mostly be that it isn't in America anymore. After a couple of years the company up and relocated to South America where the labor was cheaper.

Tecumseh has a long history and was very successful until the past few years.

In the past few years there has been a great deal of foreign competition and the company has not brought to market, many innovative products. This has caused the company to lose market share and margins. One of the solutions to address cost was, to move manufacturing to “low cost countries”. Also, there has been a large turn over in management the past three years along with changes to the strategic plan.

It was a fun job, working with helping hourly employees.

Hourly personnel needed vacation, I logged that,and noted if anyone called in sick. The co-workers were very pleasant to work for.

Maintain all related documents from customer’s intent to ship through to credit memo to substantiate customer’s account credit or denial for return claims for financial audit with a logical & easily accessible system.
Receive & resolve account issues with Wholesale & OEM customers, Sales, Engineering, Accounting and Quality departments in accordance with established warranty policy. Provide excellent & consistent support and coordination of pertinent information within and between these groups.
Create case file for engineering return analysis, evaluate results, assign primary failure cause, provide weekly reports per case to Management, Sales, Quality and Engineering with data pulled from AS400 into Access files. Customer received reports via Sales.

Review all clerk data entry and supporting documents. Investigate anomalies. Audit regularly. Issue, verify & mail credit memos. Report & balance department weekly & monthly finances. Pull weekly /monthly detailed reports from AS400. Validated product quantities, product model, point of manufacture and dollar quantities for report. Created monthly & year-to-date Excel file to report product return quantities, dollar value and sales quantities. Reporting to Division and Corporate.
Debit or Credit memos per customer in Orcacle. Mail, log and maintain records.
Verify correct pricelist per individual return in AS400 and Oracle. Make corrections as needed, report discrepancies to corporate finance.
Log all incoming customer calls, recording the basic details, highlighting flags. Promptly respond
  more... to customer questions, address issues, advise application of warranty policy with minimum escalation of issue. Redirect calls & emails as needed. Provide best-way shipping for approved returns.
Successful project collaboration with major customer in creation of an Electronic Warranty System.

Data had to be pulled from three systems that were Incopatable, valuable time was needed to transfer information.
