I used to run the Brouch machine untill I was informed they were putting in a Wheelabrator (A Big Shot Blasting Machine) & needed someone to learn to operate it ! I helped install & watched as it was being assembled ! I took notes & learned everything I could about what made it tick from the inside out ! I felt Proud when I was told they were sending – more... a guy up to train me how to operate the controls & they were surprised to learn that I already knew everything & made my own little improvements that almost tripled the production of clean parts for the machining part of the Co. & was awarded a nice cash bonus for my efforts ! For the first 3 or 4 years Management just came & gave me a list of the parts that needed blasted & left me alone to get them ready. Most of the time I had kept tabs with the machineing side of the Co. & already had a few bins already done so their was NO waiting for parts to be cleaned to get the C&C machines produceing machined parts for the customers. The people frome the Wheelabrator Co. came to Inspect the machine for worn parts & told me how good & neat my area was & that they were used to walking ankle deep in shot materal ! Then.. Management started changeing things !! My superviser ( that I trained ) became my boss started breatheing down my neck & started makeing even more changes !? More Rules !? & wanted my area clean enough to eat off the Floor ??? It was a Shot Blast Area !! It Stays Dusty !! Once that machine fired up their was dust everywhere !!! I was always told if things were running good.. DON`T MESS WITH IT !!! – less
