Call centers are not for me.
MSR (Former Employee), Uniontown, PANovember 18, 2014
The work is easy and I loved learning about online banking but call centers are just not for me. It seems like the team leaders and higher ups do have their things together. They try to help as best as they can. The training is very well done.

Very unorganized place to work.
Customer Service Advocate (Current Employee), Ennis, TXNovember 10, 2014
Cons: healthcare
Teletech hired too many people and now are looking for any reason to fire people. It is a very unorganized place and the management is horrible. She was so insensitive to the lack of resources we had to attempt to do our job.

Member Service Representative (Current Employee), Greeley, CONovember 7, 2014
I did love the people that I did work with, but I did hate the shift bid. Because I had to shift away from the people I was comfortable being around that made time pass quickly, to people I didn't know.

Versatile environment fun yet business
USAA Complex Deposits (Former Employee), Springfield, MONovember 3, 2014
Pros: health benefits and pto
Cons: sometimes there systems would go down for hours
A typical day begins with putting all personal items in locker no phones, pens or paper allowed on the floor due to sensitive information. Clocking in and loading all programs needed in the seven minute time frame. Answering calls from Members of USAA and helping them with there banking needs including Transferring funds, deposit details, debit card – more... help and maintenance, ordering checks-or- debit cards- or Official Checks, cashing out IRA's, setting up Trust Funds, helping Members with online troubleshooting, and providing excellent customer service. Getting a (9/10 or 10/10 survey or MSAT is the end goal anything less is poor service) Kudos are the highest form of congratulations it is when a Member requests to speak with the Supervisor to give a Kudos or going beyond compliment. I received great MSATS and severl Kudos. The Members where the most enjoyable part of the job as well as the hardest. That is what made it a fun job you never knew what was around the corner. – less

A place for with great potential for enjoyable work
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee), Kalispell, MTOctober 31, 2014
Pros: some prizes, free expired bread
Cons: short breaks, irresponsible individual associates, nepotism
There were several great ideas and intentions from this company, but the execution seemed to miss the mark. I learned some things about banking with Bank of America from my experience there. Management only seemed to get involved in the lives of associates only if there was disciplinary action taking place. Co-workers, in general, were pretty sophomoric – more... and didn't seem to enjoy work as much as the longer they worked there. The hardest part of the job was to be trying to advance in the company. If you didn't know someone higher in position or if you were somehow in bad relations with a higher up, then advancing was next to impossible. The most enjoyable part of the job was when one was actually recognized for there good quality, hard work and customer service. – less

Horrible work environment/employer
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee), Uniontown, PAOctober 21, 2014
Pros: pay
Cons: everything about this company
This employer lies to it's employees and treats them as slaves. You will be threatened by write ups and possible termination upon needing a day off for illness. They do not except doctors excuses or doctors notes.

Out-Sourced Call Center
CSR (Former Employee), Morgantown, WVOctober 20, 2014
Pros: great co-workers
Cons: the essence of alienation is when you are treated not as a person, but as a function of a person
It's exactly what you'd expect, and then maybe a little worse.

If you are answering phones then you are their product, and as such they have a tightly controlled environment that tracks and alarms management at every move. If you get up to go to the bathroom, leave the building, take five minutes to deal with something emotionally. They'll know, and – more... use it against you.

The metrics for raises were based off of performance related to timeliness, subjective reviews, and customer surveys. – less

Less Rewarding More Demanding Each Year
Manager (Current Employee), Denver, COOctober 19, 2014
Most co-workers are talented, hard-working, and good at what they do because they are passionate about their work. Many are working nighttime and weekend hours to keep projects on track and meet aggressive deadlines. The hardest part of the job is that there is so little that is enjoyable about working here anymore.

Customer Support Representative (Former Employee), Lafayette, GAOctober 18, 2014
Pros: work accessibility
The clients that this company has allows someone who never had public involvement gain the tools and skill set needed to understanding proper customer service. Those who already have the experience can also gain knowledge using the systematic approach to being more customer friendly regardless of the call scenario.
