Plant Manager (Former Employee), St. Louis, MOFebruary 26, 2013
Managed 2 different plants within Temple-Inland and enjoyed the companies outlook on employees and development. It became difficult when the mergers and acquisitions phase of growth kicked in. Temple Inland has since been purchased by and operates under International Paper. Most difficult portion of job was being moved to seven locations in and eleven – more... year period. – less

Assistant Operator (Former Employee), Bell, CAFebruary 4, 2013
Pros: great benefits, turkeys and hams given during the holidays.
Cons: short breaks
organizing paper work and materials needed for a days work. Learned to work on different type of machines and forklift. Management and co-workers helpful and friendly. Hardest part of job was covering for another co-worker on a shift where you do not get enough rest before having to return to work. Most enjoyable part of the job was during the yearly – more... picnics where we all got together and just eat and have fun. – less

Cons: management was not good at all, didn't treated employees well
A fast pace physical job at temple Inland. Great pay and room for advancement but management did not treat employees good. No other factory will produce the challenges that Temple Inland put there employees threw, very fast pace, very physical and very demanding.

assistant/head machine operator (Former Employee), Elgin,ilSeptember 18, 2012
Pros: the overal pay itself and co workers
Cons: physical strain
Cleaning of machinery. Setting up machinery for furture orders based on specifics from customers. Once orders are complete bails are taged and baneded then sent out to warehouse to be sent out to customers. I learned how to work in a fast paced environment while doing strategic duties. My co workers were very helpful and knowledgeable. Hardest part – more... of the job was the physicality of it. The most enjoyable part of my job was the consistant challenges it brought makeing the job more interesting and less repetitive. – less

Transfer Cart Attendant (Former Employee), Gilroy, CASeptember 17, 2012
Pros: paycheck
Cons: massive amounts of overtime, constant shift changes, and no work/life balance
Decent pay and decent benefits. Temple Inland doesnt allow for work/life balance and its mentioned by human resources right before accepting a position. This place is perfect for anyone seeking massive amounts of overtime and do not mind working numerious weekends or constant shift changes. Union provides a safety net and also limits any chance of advancement.
