Fun and productive place to work.
Guest Relations Intern (Former Employee) –  Philadelphia, PAJuly 2, 2017
Typical days at work required a large amount of patient interaction. I have learned that patients, customers, or visitors in general are much more likely to open up to an intern when he or she is very approachable and easygoing. The importance of being easygoing and approachable is recognized and practiced at the managing level as well. The hardest part of the job is dealing with the families of seriously ill patients due to their emotional distress. The most enjoyable part of the job is the amount of interaction an employee has on a daily basis.

Labor & Delivery RN (Current Employee) –  Philadelphia, PAJune 27, 2017
The culture at Temple University Hospital can at times be very stressful, but when you work with colleagues who support you, it makes it easier to get through your day/night shift. At Temple colleagues and co-workers become life-long friends who share in your hopes, dreams, fears, and crises; they lift you up when life tries to knock you down.

Fast-paced
Registered Nurse, Medical-Surgical/Trauma (Current Employee) –  Philadelphia, PAJune 19, 2017
Day shift is fast-paced with constant changes in medication regimens for the patients.

With the passage of time, more focus seems to be on the dollar rather than the patient. There is a great push for staff to clock out "on-time" and to avoid "incidental overtime." Many find this difficult because we realize the patients are human beings, not widgits. Therefore to care for and address the needs of whole patient in a quality manner can be difficult when restricted to a time clock.

The most enjoyable part of the job is interacting with the patients.

PC Support / Hardware Support Specialist (Current Employee) –  Philadelphia, PAJune 13, 2017
PC support technicians have a wide array of job responsibilities, such as upgrading components of aging systems and removing viruses and also responsible for networking features, like servers and routers. While the tasks of PC support technicians are generally similar, some individuals work on specialty systems developed for specific purposes. A PC support technician working for software or hardware developers also assists customers with issues on specific products

Excellent Hospital System
Full-time staff nurse (Former Employee) –  Philadelphia, PAMay 14, 2017
As a nurse you feel a warm blanket of protection at all times because of a strong union where people have your back. In my experience, this makes all the difference. I have worked for hospitals where if you make a mistake, as humans are prone to do, they will readily betray you and do so without emotion or loyalty. Not when you have a union.
The flip-side of that coin is that many clearly incompetent or lazy staff will take advantage of the union. So attitudes tend to run rampant and your colleagues will disappear for long periods. I, however, found that a small price to pay for my own security as a "good nurse" who also happens to be an imperfect human being.
Now the location of this place is not ideal. Its smack in the middle of the hood. That fact quickly becomes obvious when you interact with any of the ancillary staff who they appear to have simply just snatched up off the streets. I have had numerous occasions as a patient or a client of the system (let alone as a nurse) where the person I am dealing with is completely oblivious to the fundamental duties of their job and/or have ZERO people-skills. Temple is bursting with people like this.
I will say, however, that I have never had a more personally fulfilling relationship with my own colleagues then with Temple. They are a unique and diverse group. Definitely a (rather comical and dysfunctional) family-type atmosphere!
Pros
The union has your back.

A med/surg unit is every bit time consuming with great deal of health care demands. Extremly fast-paced with diverse patient care needs from critical to stable.

Senior Clinical Medical Assistant (Former Employee) –  Philadelphia, PAApril 24, 2017
Over worked even though the pay is good: you are not properly trained everything is trial and error. I could say that would be okay maybe in food service because if mess up throw it away and start over but in healthcare and dealing with ppls lives very DANGEROUS and unsafe.
Temple could be a Great place to work if the two part the Health system and the University actually worked together. but its every man for himself.
Pros
make good money working at Temple
Cons
Very unorganized corp, friends and family work together &are not held accountable for their work or ethics
