Would pull in outsiders to work under the table with big jobs. Understaffed and poor management. Wouldn't recommend anyone to work here.

This is not an easy job
Technician (Former Employee) –  Tampa, FLSeptember 27, 2016
There is a lot of heavy lifting, twisting, manual labor, and climbing. Typical work day requires getting to work early to prepare the work truck, going to set locations and a crammed vehicle and placing tarps and taking tarps off of homes.

Outside Sales Professional (Current Employee) –  San Jose, CASeptember 26, 2016
Management isn't effective nor do they care to improve. Training is very minimal and scheduling work to be completed is redundant and unreliable. You don't get paid commission until you reach 20K in sales and then you get paid after the 20K for example: You complete 25K the previous month you only get commission on the 5K NOTHING on the 20K. Jobs don't count until completed and paid by customers and they push you to use their in house high APR financing. You have to sell at least 40K or more to make decent money but you would have to work 60 hours every week to do that. The company is still using outdated technology. MS DOS and brick handheld devices while other smaller companies are using current more efficient technology. They charge you tax for having a company car. Driving to your first customer and leaving your last customer is considered personal mileage. Your expected to perform with minimal knowledge of the services sold and your constantly put in a position where you over promise and the technicians under deliver.
Pros
company car, potential to make money
Cons
Poor management, no efficiency, poor communication, no work life balance

Fumigation crew leader (Former Employee) –  Sarasota, FLSeptember 8, 2016
The whole day is busy and full of adventure. There isn't much downtime but everyone works together to get the work load down properly. The management was great and knew how to make the employees know that they were appreciated and valued our hard work.

Job Performance and Team WORK
Field Representative (Former Employee) –  Hayward, CASeptember 7, 2016
Provide customer service to our customers and delivering service in a timely matter as scheduled by customer. In the process what I learned was that friendly and consistent customer service more important than the job itself, my co-workers was the best understanding that when one of us win we all win which we grouped together as a sports team playing for a championship. But the hardest part of the job was the constant driving ten to twelve ours a day and best part of the job meeting and working with the customer to solve any issues they may have. The most enjoyable part of my time employed at Terminix is knowing that I have addressed my customers problem and left that customer satisfied with the service which I provided.

Pest Control Technician (Former Employee) –  Memphis, TNSeptember 6, 2016
The work is easy but management makes things harder on techs than they should to avoid doing their jobs. The pay is decent but for some of the jobs they want you to do, youll be under paid.

Poor Management
PC Technician (Former Employee) –  Fayetteville, ARAugust 26, 2016
The management are always picky. They want it one way all the time. If there's an issue with one manager, you need to go straight to HR because there is no such thing as an open door policy [even though they say there is]. The problem manager always wants to bud in the conversation. They leave the door open when you do try to talk to then. Having a truck was nice, but means you get paid by salary. Not much base pay.
Pros
Truck, Gas Card
Cons
Management sucks, Always Picking.

Branch manager enjoyed bullying and gossiping. Branch manager insisted on micromanaging your daily activities, meeting Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

Customer Service Representative (Current Employee) –  Houston, TXAugust 23, 2016
Good co-workers and not a stressful atmosphere. Management is laid back most of the time. Sometimes too laid back. Pay is not great. If you are young, then this is a good job to look at.

Commercial Sales Representative (Current Employee) –  Indianapolis, INAugust 22, 2016
Too many chiefs and not enough indians. Sales people are the lowest on the totem pole at Terminix. I honestly wouldn't recommend this job to anyone. Long hours, high stress - and you are poorly compensated.

Very poor management.
Pest Control Technician (Former Employee) –  Waterbury, CTAugust 21, 2016
Management exploited their employees. The technicians were constantly overloaded with work. The route coordinator was inadequate offering little to no assistance to the technicians who tried to improve their routes by keeping their work in one town at a time. Instead, techs were sent all over the state resulting in a waste of gas, money and time.
Pros
Learning about insects and rodents. No one looking over your shoulder at all times.
Cons
Very little personal time. Life revolved around the job. After long days, had to go home and call customers and plan for the following day.

Outside Sales Representative (Former Employee) –  Lancaster, PAAugust 19, 2016
Being an outside sales representative or home inspector can be a very rewarding job. You spend most of the day driving from customer to customer inspecting homes and offering product solutions. Customers call the call center and request inspections. Leads are limited and very random. Depends on your geographical location and if you are deemed a closer, otherwise, you will have to do cold calling.
Management is okay, but inflexible when it comes to working with employees needs. Good luck getting time off. Be forewarned, you will be in many dirty homes dealing with some extremely unpleasant insects, bed bugs, fleas in particular. Company is in midst of a tech upgrade.
Pros
company car and tablet
Cons
working in dirty and unsafe homes

Corporate greed has taken over this company.
Pest Control Technician (Former Employee) –  San Diego, CAAugust 13, 2016
I was an employee for this company for over 15 years as a pest control tech. The good old days were great, the company used to care about their customers and employees. Sadly, those times have changed. They currently don't want to hire new techs with any prior experience. Terminix wants to be able to mold you to become their tool. You will work long hours, including Saturdays.

Charging more and more for their service while cutting your pay is the game at Terminix. As a tech you're commission based. If a customer cancels their account for any reason you will be punished by a cut in your commission. For example, if you have 650 total customers based on all 3 service cycles and ten cancel in one month, be prepared for a drop in pay by $500 to $1000 for that current month.

The management is always changing and techs are always looking to leave to escape the madness. It's true, its a revolving door here. Veteran techs are leaving looking for a better company. Yes, Terminix pays well if you're a star tech, but getting there is hard. Be prepared to work over 50 hours a week.

Bottomline, Terminix doesn't care about you as an employee. They only care about beating their previous years budget. Hear all of our warnings and avoid this company at all cost. I discussed just a fraction of the issues with this company. I hope this shines a little light on the job as a pest control tech for Terminix
Pros
pay, if they don't cut your commission
Cons
hard to take vacation, long hours, no support from managers

Do not accept a sales position with this co....
Outside Sales Professional (Current Employee) –  Baton Rouge, LAAugust 10, 2016
They have changed their compensation plan to the point that you will make the wage of a waitress if you do not sell $20k per month. You will not earn any commission on the 20k in sales you made for them unless you sell termite or pest control, at which you will earn a rate of 3%. Once you hit $20,001 you will start earning commission. By that point, you are worn out from working 6 days a week, 12 to 13 hour days. They will control you and try to own you like you are their slave. If you go on vacation, you will be behind so don't even bother. They are now giving cars for business and personal use that you will be taxed on, yet they have terminix splattered all over the vehicle. They count the vehicle - a Ford Focus as a $1000 month towards your salary.

Just Don't Do It...You will be sold dreams & lies and will be so frustrated...this job will bankrupt you.
