Terra Engineering and Construction Corp. is a civil construction company specializing in earth retention, drilling, deep foundations, dams, watercourse and marine work, landfill gas and petroleum pipeline installations, underground utilities, excavating and grading. Terra also provides engineering/ design build services for earth retention and deep foundation structures.

POSITION OVERVIEW
Manages total construction effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule. May supervise and coordinate various sub-contractors to ensure their contracts are complied with or may supervise and coordinate trades.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Knowledge:
--Understands best practices of job set-up and management, understands the timeliness of decision making.
--Understands big picture behind schedule and inter-relationships of specific scheduled activities.
--Understands engineering, shop, and safety processes.
Ability to Engage in or Lead Key Construction Processes:
--Contract management
--Demonstrates ability to analyze all contract documents and propose additions and deletions to contract documents in order to manage risk and make job more profitable and easier to manage.
Set-up:
--Demonstrates systematic commitment to all job set-up best practices, fostering close collaboration and communication between all team members.
--Play effective role in Means and Methods development and revision.
--Can engage in the comprehensive analysis and “break-up” of project into all required buy-outs.
-Engineering Submittal Process:
--Plays effective role in coordinating and solving problems that require the input of groups outside of engineering.
--Optimizes between factors affecting timing, engineering cost, quality and constructability.
Buy-out and Vendor Management:
--Can satisfactorily handle complete buy-out of a major vendor, including additional responsibilities of assembling RFP’s, scoping out the bids, completing purchase orders, and overseeing all vendor shop drawing process.
Scheduling:
--Demonstrates ability with oversight to create or assist in creation of baseline schedule.
--Demonstrates ability to manage schedule update process, ensuring all required documentation happens and that schedule is used as a management tool.
Financial Controls and Project Roll-Outs:
--Demonstrates ability with oversight to create maintain project P&L.
--Review of monthly costs, schedule of values should be set up to maximize cash flow and promote retainage reduction.
Field Coordination:
--Can assume responsibility for material management to assure that materials are delivered to the site in a timely fashion, in the manner field staff requires, and of the quality that complies with the project-specific quality control program.
--Can assume responsibility for accurately maintaining field labor tracking process (with set-up by someone else.)
--Can assume responsibility for accurately maintaining field QA/QC tracking (with set-up by someone else.)
Documentation/Change Orders/Back-Charges:
--Optimizes opportunities and exhibits good salesmanship to close out change orders, should give constructive information versus combative.
-Project Close Out:
--Demonstrates capability to oversee timely and fair punch list completion, resolve all “routine” change orders, timely delivery through close out submittals, leaves customer with a positive view of Company.
Management and People Skills:
--Delegates and monitors work and provides constructive feedback.
--Takes active role in the development and mentoring of team members and provides timely and effective performance management or feedback where required or necessary. Reviews people working under them.
--Demonstrates ability to attend important meetings and communicate clearly with the GC and architect.
--Possesses confidence and ability to execute without significant oversight, but has an equal willingness and sense to seek input from supervisors, peers, and company experts when needed.
--Demonstrates ability to make timely decisions and navigate obstacles.
--Demonstrates ability to build and manage cohesive and effective team, with understanding of strengths and weaknesses of team members and can use strengths of individuals and group to support the weaknesses.
--Makes collaboration and communication among and with team members consistent.
--Builds strong relationships with customers and key vendors earning their respect, while at the same time treating them as customers/partners and protecting Company’s interests.
--Should participate in safety meetings and training.

Minimum Qualifications
- Degree in Civil Engineering preffered or Construction Management .
-10 years work experience in Civil type construction.
-Proficiency in Microsoft software (Word , Excel and Outlook) Project Management Software (for job costing, billing and labor management) is helpful. Knowledge of Microsoft Project or other scheduling software
