It's obvious why they have a hard time successfully recruiting people in spite of the economy. An inner group acts obnoxious towards other employees.
They proactively change around meeting dates and times. And they carve out policy exemptions for themselves which are then not permitted to other staff. The no win sittuation quickly deflates employee morale.
Campaigns are (by their nature) stressful and fast-paced. But there is a critical difference between such an environment and just being a control freak who likes to order around others for the sake of it.
This organization was less the campaiger and much more like a high school bully who hid personal insecurity behind having to have things 'exactly their way or else!'. They don't otherwise appreciate like-minded citizens This is the first campaign office I was ever working at where they'd even get in a personal insult for your attempting to support the causes.
It's a shame too because the group would actually accomplish something with a gennuinely effective leadership and different policies.
