Nurse Manager Operating Room

The Allen Group is conducting a national search for a Manager Nursing, Perioperative Services located at an Academic University Medical Center in the Midwest.

The University is one of the largest and most diverse Academic Medical Centers in the country. The University Hospital is a national leader in developing personalized healthcare, a new form of healthcare delivery based on each individual's unique biology, behavior and environment. There are currently 12 OR suites and this position will report to the Associate Director of Perioperative Services

Position Summary:
The Nurse Manager is a management position for both patient care and unit operations. The Nurse Manager is responsible for the overall planning organization, direction and evaluation of patient care activities on a 24-hour basis. The Nurse Manager role is a vital management position through which the patient-related objectives of the nursing division are organized. The Nurse Manager directs nursing activities and the day-to-day coordination with all other departments which relate directly or indirectly to patient care services, knowledge, and understanding, compliance with the philosophy, objectives, and policies.

In summary, Nurse Managers are responsible for the following; integrate their department's services with the Medical Center's primary functions; coordinate and integrate services within the department and with other departments; develop and implement policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of the department's services; recommend a sufficient number of qualified and competent persons to provide the department's services; continuously assess and improve the department's performance; maintain appropriate quality control programs if pertinent; provide for orientation, in-service training and continuing education of all persons in the department; recommend sufficient space and other resources required by the department, participate in the selection of outside services if needed; and ensure compliance with appropriate patient care and business practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in nursing required.
  • Master’s Degree in nursing/related field desired.
  • Progressively responsible hospital nursing experience in administration, and supervision.
  • Current ACLS certification preferred.
