THE AMERICAN COAL COMPANY

About THE AMERICAN COAL COMPANY

The American Coal Foundation (ACF) was created in 1981 as a 501(c)(3) organization to develop, produce, and disseminate coal-related educational materials and programs designed for teachers and students. The ACF does not engage in lobbying. All corporate contributions to the ACF are tax deductible.

Who Is Involved with the ACF? Support for the ACF
 – more... comes from coal producers, manufacturers of mining equipment and supplies, electric utilities, railroads, and organized labor. This is a broad coalition of people and companies who care about the future of coal and about the quality of education in their communities. A board of directors made up of contributors and industry executives manages the business, programs, and affairs of the foundation. An operating committee of communications executives develops short- and long-term goals, reviews materials before publication, and recommends programs for board approval. Approved programs are then implemented by ACF staff members, who are assisted by volunteers throughout the United States.

Are ACF Programs Useful to Teachers? An advisory council composed of classroom teachers and curriculum coordinators representing their peers throughout the United States meets regularly to review current ACF programs and materials and to suggest new activities for consideration by the board of directors. By having qualified educators involved in this review process, the ACF develops credible and effective educational materials for distribution to teachers. – lessMore from ZoomInfo »
