Intern (Current Employee) –  Atlanta, GAJuly 30, 2017
Opportunities to advance and seek out areas of improvement were readily available. Management is great. The AJC encourages diversity at the work place and is such a welcoming place for new talent. The company is committed to the success of employees as they provide opportunities to see how other departments in the company operate. Highly recommend this company to any intern seeking experience.

Not a bad place to work
Senior Systems Analyst (Former Employee) –  Atlanta, GAMay 12, 2017
It was a newspaper, so I was fortunate to have been there through the good times when newspapers were king, and the bad times when newspapers fell out of favor.

Designer/Production Artist (Former Employee) –  Atlanta, GAAugust 30, 2016
This was a great place to work in the beginning. It was high paced and always challenging. It is just sad that the newspaper business is not as strong as it use to be.
Pros
great co-workers, always busy in the beginning
Cons
the business has gotten smaller and smaller

Security Accounting Manager (Former Employee) –  Atlanta, GAAugust 27, 2016
Typical day included scheduling, writing various reports and monitoring employee access/egress to the property. Learned to always plan ahead. Management was great. Co-workers will take initiative when trained properly. Hardest part was scheduling and parking. Most enjoyable was interacting with employees and vendors.

Doing more with less
Marketing Research Analyst (Current Employee) –  AtlantaSeptember 5, 2015
Very demanding company, management is asking employees to do more with less. Alot of people are unhappy and overworked. Enjoyed my coworkers, though, despite all of that. Parent company is great, as well as the benefits.

Workhorse with limited benefits

The culture is morally corrupt. Very limited benefits, and vacation days. Low paying salary and very depressing staff morale.

Ever-changing assignments provided a challenge.
Reporter, editor (Former Employee) –  Atlanta, GAOctober 24, 2012
Spending 21 years in the newspaper business was an honor. I wish the business didn't change so dramatically. I met more people that I still respect than I could possibly list.
Pros
travel, variety of work, deadline adrenaline, opportunities to write long-form.
Cons
unpredictability within the industry.

Typically friendly staff, supportive staff, relaxed and controlled corporate environment, generous benefits
Editorial Graphics Assistant (Former Employee) –  Atlanta, GAJanuary 7, 2012
The Atlanta-Journal Constitution is an excellent employer that promotes their staff to do their best while providing a positive environment for them to work. The atmosphere, though occasionally busy, has a sense of control and many projects can be completed within a reasonable time due to this. Benefits are also very good, with insurance provider choices available. The staff is also mature and supportive.
Pros
easygoing work environment
Cons
job advancement is difficult to achieve
