The purpose of the Campus Club of the University of Minnesota is to facilitate and enhance the missions and activities of the University community. The club provides a common, informal gathering place, a place for broad community interaction, rooms for social and business meetings, and facilities for dining and receptions.
Founded in 1911, the club is a 501(c)(7) non-profit membership organization. Current membership is approximately 1500. The majority of members are University faculty, staff, and departments/units. Other categories include alumni, parents, students, Regents, retirees, and corporations. Membership is open to any person or entity with a bona fide relationship with the University of Minnesota.
As an entity separate from the University, the club operates our own kitchen - headed by Beth Jones, our wonderful Executive Chef. We are committed to using locally sourced and organic ingredients whenever possible. Beth works closely with local purveyors to insure that you get the best and freshest food possible.
The only bar on campus is found at the Campus Club. The beverage choices include an impressive top shelf of single malt Scotches, an ever changing selection of fine wines, award winning craft beers, and a full range of spirits and cocktails.
The club occupies the the entire 4th floor of Coffman Memorial Union. The floor to ceiling windows in the West Wing offer great views of downtown Minneapolis and the Mississippi River Valley. The Terrace has a wonderful view of Northrop Mall and a surprising view of downtown.
The club re-opened in January 2003 after a complete renovation of Coffman Union. The entire renovation was very successful, especially in the club. The decor features Deco motifs that combine into a sophisticated ambiance that members and their guests appreciate.
The club is open weekdays year round. Our hours of operation are linked to the academic year. Winter, Spring, and Summer Breaks all have somewhat shortened business hours. The club observes national and University of Minnesota holidays.
On weekends we host a wide range of private milestone events. These include weddings, bar mitzvahs, graduation celebrations, anniversary and birthday parties, and memorial events.
The club also hosts major department events on weekdays and weekends. Annual banquets, retirement parties, award ceremonies take place at the club. – less–ZoomInfo
