The position is a specialized technical role in Human Resources that will focus on the preparation and management of the firm wide compensation and benefits budget and quarterly reforecasting processes. The activities will include data gathering, reporting, expense reconciliation and analysis, and research, as well as participating in the administration of compensation-related programs, policies, and processes. The position will also be actively involved in the development of technology enhancements that will impact the department.

Compensation and Benefits (C&B) Budgeting & Position Management

  • Assists in all C&B related phases of the annual budget and quarterly reforecasting process, coordinating with the HR, budget and accounting teams. A general understanding of annual budgeting processes and related financials is necessary
  • Conduct monthly reconciliation activities and expense analysis research and develop reports summarizing results of research. A general understanding of accounting processes, policies and procedures is necessary
  • Coordinate with HR team members, Finance and Accounting departments, to provide monthly and ad hoc reporting activities utilized by senior management in decision making
  • Works closely with relevant HR team members to ensure accurate position maintenance in the HRIS, including processing various position and compensation updates/changes in the system
  • Works closely with relevant HR team members to ensure accurate new hire data tracking
  • In partnership with IT works to ensure successful implementation of new reporting tools, including report development and data testing
  • Assists in developing tools for various data tracking and modeling (e.g., Excel)

Annual Compensation Planning

  • Assists with the annual process of the “go live” preparations for the year end compensation online management program (COMP), which includes system testing and analysis, making recommendations to system enhancements, data analysis and testing, reporting and overall troubleshooting
  • Participate in the data analysis and report production for senior management in the year end compensation processes
  • Responsible for partnering with HRIS and IT teams to ensure the development and maintenance of a variety of standard compensation reports and ad hoc queries, as well as data testing throughout the year

Overall Compensation Management

  • Assists in creating various bi-weekly and monthly reports for Payroll Accounting
  • Assists in preparation of quarterly overtime reports for distribution to Department and Fund Heads
  • Maintains spread sheet database files outside the HRIS, as needed
  • Develops techniques for compiling, preparing and presenting data for various audiences
  • Participate in all compliance activities and work with internal and external auditors to prepare and deliver required process and supporting documentation
  • Other related duties as reasonably assigned


  • 2-4 years of directly related experience in budgeting and forecasting, and the corresponding expense analysis, required
  • Four year college degree in business, finance, HR or a related field, required
  • Exhibits excellent analytical skills, detail and quality orientation
  • Strong mathematical skills required
  • Understanding of financial concepts and practices required
  • High degree of proficiency in Excel (for example: formulas, pivot tables, charts & graphs, etc.,) and other MS Office Products is required
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities and deadlines and to adapt to a continually changing and fast-paced financial company
  • Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with all levels of employees and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and management
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • HRIS experience preferred, but not required
