New Montessori school is seeking a Lead Primary Teacher/Director to begin in January of 2014, or as soon as possible. We are a small, independent, parent cooperative preschool located in the coastal town of Morehead City, North Carolina.

Job description: We are looking for an exceptional leadership candidate to play an active role in the development of the school and family community. Candidates able to contribute to furnishing and setting up the school environment and curriculum are desirable. Teacher needs to be enthusiastic about working in a new school and have an understanding of early childhood development, patience and respect for children, able to encourage children to be independent, model for them appropriate behavior, prepare an environment rich with Montessori philosophy that is both safe and engaging for children, provide opportunities that enhance the child's social, physical and intellectual development, exhibit excellent interpersonal skills and can effectively collaborate with students, parents, and staff to nurture a passion for learning in the young child. This is an opportunity for the teacher to help create the vision and foundation for their school. Duties include development and execution of daily lesson plans, management of the classroom and parent/staff training. The ideal candidate will also promote and nurture the growth of the school by serving as a spokesperson in the community and participating in school events outside of school hours. This is a part-time position.

Qualifications: AMS or AMI certification, and in addition should have completed a 4-year college degree in USA or US equivalent. The right candidate should have minimum 1-3 years paid experience in a reputed Montessori school and have good oral and written communication skills. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
