About The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf
Don't be chai; stand your grounds and espresso yourself over a cup at The Coffee Bean. International Coffee & Tea operates and franchises more than 800 coffee shops under the name The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. The outlets, which are located primarily in Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, and Texas, feature a variety of fresh roasted coffees and specialty – more... teas, along with baked goods and blended ice drinks. The chain also operates locations in more than 20 countries outside of the US. About 350 locations are company-owned, while the rest are franchised. The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf also sells bagged coffee and tea at a handful of grocery stores, including Albertsons and Vons.
Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf opened several locations in the New York City metropolitan area during 2011 and in early 2012 the chain opened its first location in Washington D.C.
The company has been looking to expand its coffee shop chain through additional franchising and licensing efforts. Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf launched a line of bottled coffee and tea beverages in 2010. The bottled coffee drinks come in three flavors: Café Latte, Café Mocha, and Café Vanilla. The tea selections are made with handpicked teas sourced at the origin.
In 2009 it inked a licensing deal with Delaware North Companies to open Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf locations at a number of airports. The contract foodservices provider has hospitality operations at about 20 airports in the US. Delaware North also provides concession services at more than 50 sports stadiums and arenas.
The chain was started by Mona and Herbert Hyman in 1963. Chairman Sunny Sassoon, his brother Victor, and investor Severin Wunderman bought International Coffee & Tea in 1998. – less
