The Daily Voice hires young reporters lured by the promise of the web and being in the NYC metro area. What they get is a job with demands that preclude doing any real journalism. Much of what they write would be handled by editorial assistants or interns elsewhere, and when they do write, their stories are limited to word counts that make telling the story nearly impossible. Coverage areas are broad and do not allow for any real connection or understanding with the beat. This is the company where the owner sent an email to the staff after the CEO bolted, saying "The news is good" before firing more than half the staff.
