Director of Quality Systems (Manufacturing) -- J01-0206

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Responsible for the total Quality functions for two facilities. Insure that all products meet or exceed government, industry and company specifications. Insure that the company’s philosophy for quality products and customer satisfaction be responsive, effective and reach all areas of the organization with special emphasis on the constant concern for product liability.

Ensure efficient, safe operation and the accomplishment of plant goals and objectives.
Resolve problems on a last appeal level, maintaining awareness of the Company’s concern for product liability.
Participate in Management Review meetings in accordance with the provisions of the quality system.
Ensure in-plant resident inspection coverage is provided.
Ensure that 3rd-party plant surveys are conducted properly and meet requirements.
Work with key management personnel to establish a vendor rating program that promotes improvements in supplier quality and delivery.
Maintain a corrective action system such that causes for product defects are identified and preventive action programs are maintained to improve first pass quality.
Participate in Group board meetings, sales meetings and technical seminars as requested.
Coordinate statistical process control (continuous improvement programs for the plant Continuous Improvement Dept. and the associated steering committee(s).
Communicate with and visit major customers to review quality ratings and determine the customer's perception of product quality and reliability.
Undertake special assignments to provide programs, controls and assistance to other Group plants.
Escort or entertain high-ranking visitors as requested by management.
Work with customers’ management to insure our systems, controls, and vendor ratings are such that we develop and maintain a position as a preferred supplier in order to support the Group’s marketing position.
Keep Division Headquarters informed of all quality problems and programs that could affect other Groups.
Recommend capital equipment needs for measurement & testing equipment.
Perform other duties as necessary or appropriate to the position.

Job Requirements

Appropriate professional certifications in Quality Engineering.
Excellent process management skills.
Ability to manage a group of up to 15 professionals.
Excellent computer skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office products and other programs relating to quality.
Strong engineering skills.
High attention to detail.
Must have managed the quality function in a manufacturing environment for at least 5 years.
Minimum of BS degree in an engineering discipline; preference to metallurgy or mechanical engineering.
Overall manufacturing management and leadership experience of 10 years.
Exhibited leadership experience of improving, changing and developing quality systems.
Aerospace or automotive manufacturing experience preferred.
