Gphomestay is a Boston-based educational service provider that specializes in bringing quality international student homestay and boarding components to private high schools around the U.S. Our worldwide network has brought hundreds of young people from around the world to experience American education and build worldwide connections.
Community Organizers are field-based sales associates for gphomestay who are paid primarily on a commission basis.
The Community Organizer will complete outreach efforts to raise awareness about opportunities to host an international student attending a local high school. Responsibilities will involve field work with school communities, civic organizations, social clubs, faith groups, businesses, and other community groups. The work will take place locally. The Community Organizer will be focused on increasing the number of host family applicants and community knowledge about local hosting opportunities. This is great experience for those interested in improving their skills and building their resumes in the fields of sales, marketing, public relations, community outreach, and grassroots organizing. This is an ideal opportunity for those looking to supplement their income on a part-time basis.
Conduct community outreach efforts to engage communities in host recruitment initiatives.
Build relationships with civic organizations, social clubs, businesses, faith groups, and other community organizations to raise awareness and generate interest from potential hosts.
Provide local insight and ideas to optimize participation in hosting programs.
Distributing flyers and other marketing materials throughout the community.
Make appearances at and organize school, organizational, and community meetings and events.
Exceptional verbal and written communication
High level of professionalism and organizational skills
Ability to work independently
Familiarity with standard technology (MS and Google applications)
Efficient time management
Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
Event planning experience a plus
Sales experience strongly preferred
Interpersonal/public speaking skills strongly preferred
Must have a car
This is a part-time, temporary position with work available from February to September of 2014. This position may include work during evenings and weekends.
Community Organizers will receive an hourly rate of $10 per hour for their work. Community Organizers are approved for 5 hours of event time each week and 5 hours of networking time each week. Additional event hours may be available if pre-approved.
Additionally, there will be compensation a commission basis per recruited host family.
$50 for each indirect referral of a qualified host family
$100 for each direct referral of a qualified host family
An additional $100 if the family is matched with a student
