POOR management, NO proper training
Production (Former Employee), New York, NY – March 28, 2013
Pros: brown noser, poor management, lack of proper training, heavy workload
Cons: healthcare
Working for Jeanswear division is tough. No proper training provides but all of them expect you to know everything on day one! If you can't meet their expectation, they will give you attitude or insult you.

Be prepare to work for one of their Managers as it's going to be a nightmare! She's going to give you hard time and criticize your working ability – more... if you make a mistake. No respect from her at all and the survive guide is to be a brown noser. Self-esteem means nothing if you work for her. She’d never admit her mistake and you will be the one who makes all the mistake. Don’t expect you would learn anything from her because she’s not going to teach you. Try to avoid working for Jeanswear production team, you will have no life! – less

Poor employee relations, takes advantage of employees
Store Manager (Former Employee), Missouri – January 26, 2013
Pros: employee discount
At first, it was a great company to work for. Shortly after being hired, it became clear that training of new managers was lacking, if not non existent. There is horrible work/life balance and they will take advantage of employees and work them into the ground. Pay for a store manager was low, especially considering you would often work more than the – more... expected 44 hours a week. Store managers hands are tied in effectively disciplining and coaching their staff. Many issues were not dealt with and left to fester. It became glaringly obvious that the district was dysfunctional and poorly managed by a DSM who was stretched equally thin as the store managers. There was very high turnover in one particular store and throughout the district, which is a direct reflection of poor training and a lot of scapegoating. The company appears poorly managed on the executive level and the home office would make irrational and sudden changes to sales, promotions, procedures on a daily basis. There is a lot of wasted productivity. Customers are increasingly unhappy with the product, quality, and styling of clothing. The reputable Jones New York brand is becoming unrecognizable to the long time, loyal customer base. Sales were decreasing and the company responded in a panicked manner. The survival of the company would appear to be in question and many are speculating it's demise. – less

Fabric Research & Development
Fabric R&D Assistant (Signature) (Former Employee), New York, NY – September 3, 2012
Pros: the benefits
Cons: difficult obtaining position promotions
1) A typical day at Jones:
-Communicated with garment mills on a daily basis to ensure fabric productivity is completed in a timely manner.
-Issued comments to mills for quality adjustments
-Pitched out colors with in prints for production

2) Management:
-Assisted the fabric R&D manager on a daily basis
-My manager was extremely eager for our department – more... to grow and learn as much as possible. She would sign our department up for work related classes outside of Jones to strengthen our ability to grow professionally in our field.

3) Co-workers:
-Maintained a close professional relationship with co-workers despite it's high volume & fast paced environment.

4) The hardest part of working for Jones:
-position advancement is one downside to working at Jones. Working for a major company has it's perks, but unfortunately promotions are not easily handed to it's employees. I was hired as an assistant a couple of years ago & unfortunately I would not be promoted for quite some time. If you are patient & want a corporate atmosphere, Jones is right for you.

5) Most enjoyable part of the job:
-The most enjoyable part of working for Jones were the benefits that were offered. Even though the compensation wasn't to my liking, the benefits made up for everything in the end. Such benefits included great health & dental benefits, 401k program, pre-tax transit programs, 40% off apparel & shoes from Ninewest, Rachel Roy, Easy Spirit, Anne Klein, & Jones New York, discount tickets to concerts, shows, travel, free educational programs with in Jones, bi-monthly sample sales, & much more. – less

Horrible IT Department
Project Manager (Former Employee), New York, NY – August 17, 2012
Pros: apparel discounts
The Jones Group is not a bad company, but could be a much better place. To start, the senior management, (C Level execs) in New York should probably be replaced. Their stores are outdated, lines tired and old, and the company is just not growing, although they are in an acquistion mode.

I would encourage anyone considering joining their IT Department – more... to think twice. If you're a manager it's a sweet deal, a year-end bonus etc. For employees, it a terrible deal, no advancement and minimal annual increases. Every project is Ten (10) pounds of flour in a Five (5) pound bag with tight timelines, minimal budgets and overworked staff. IT Management approaches their projects with the zeal of someone working on a "Final" cure for a dreaded disease. They are a good Five (5) years behind on their SAP releases; and in general, playing catch-up on all their initiatives. With that said, their about 10 years behind the times.

The Finance group in IT is no doubt one of the worst groups I ever worked. An Obsessive Compulsive, Over your shoulder, Behind Your Back Micromanger attempts to manage that group. I say attempts because he is not a manager and hasn't a clue on how to deal with or treat people. It's great if you're a contractor making $150 an hour like some of thier Russian Consultants, but I would not consider working in their IT group particularly Finance. – less

Good Company expect for the tax department.
Tax Manager (Former Employee), Bristol, PA – August 6, 2012
Pros: control of my work schedule
Cons: isolation and lack of support
I managed the state and local income tax process along with tax fixed assets, annual reports and apparel registration. Most of my work was prioritized according to the due dates. The most enjoyable part of my job was that I was in control of my work and learned new areas in my field. For example: I learned how to process the tax fixed assets through – more... the FA Sage system by studying their manual in the help section. The hardest part was the lack of management support and little interaction between employees. – less
