The Hardware Technician is responsible for support of all campus hardware. This includes monitoring the equipment for failures, managing warranties, maintaining replacement schedules, and managing the recycling and disposal of discarded equipment. The preferred person would also be viewed as an escalation point for tier-three support of school’s three division level technology coordinators and administrative staff. The preferred person would also be viewed as tier-one support for server and network issues.
Installs, configures, maintains and repairs all school technology hardware
Maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory of equipment
Manages the technology use of summer school programs
Proactively identifies ways to avoid recurrence of hardware related issues by reviewing technical articles and recommending changes
Tests and repairs optical fiber and copper cabling
Backup support for server and network issues, VoIP phones, user accounts, and school helpdesk
Additional responsibilities as business requirements dictate.

Apple Certified Macintosh Technician (ACMT) certification or the attainment of an ACMT certification within 90 days as a condition of continued employment

Apple mobile devices (iPad, iPhone)
Dell servers and storage
HP, Brother, and Epson printers and plotters
HP Procurve switches
Required software knowledge of the following:
Mac OS X (10.7 & 10.8)
Detailed knowledge of System Preferences
Mac OS X Server
Microsoft Windows 7
Microsoft Windows Server
DHCP and DNS
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. of equipment on a regular basis
Must be able to crawl under or around furniture to install equipment.
Must be available for on-call shifts after hours and on weekends.
