Paralegal/Notary Public, Cleveland, OH - March 7, 2015
A typical day was non-stop activity - which I enjoy. Phone calls, client interviews, a lot of paperwork. I learned a lot about the Bankruptcy process. I learned new computer programs. Management is not up to par. They treat anyone that is not an attorney with what some could say as contempt. Co-workers are great. They try to support one another with the stresses of working with people that have no where else to go for help. These people are often angry, frustrated or frightened. The hardest part of the job was dealing with angry, shouting people on a daily basis. Another difficult part of the job was when people would complain that you would not do something for them because you were following your attorneys orders and then they would change the rule and do it anyway. This made you look like an imbecile to the client. Yet, you could not voice your opinion because if you did you were threatened with dismissal. So everyone just shut up. The most enjoyable aspects of this job were the co-workers and helping a client solve a life problem and seeing their relief in the end. Sometimes they even thanked you.
