Great Place to Work!
Social Media and Community Administrator (Former Employee), Natick, MA – April 29, 2013
Pros: building, campus, free fountain drinks, opportunity for advancement
I worked here on a temp assignment while the current social media administrator was away on maternity leave. The company is great, free sodas, and juices, and free breakfast on Wednesday. There's a cafeteria on campus and everyone works very hard but for the most part everyone is loose and friendly.

Bad Experience - Mobbing Prevalant
Consultant (Former Employee), Novi – February 16, 2013
Pros: good computing resources and office space
Cons: mobbing, bullying
- Changing Goalposts:
Joined organization after lots of industry experience, hiring manager told "Sky is the limit". Within a year asked to "Stay within boundary". Basically managers protect their turf by bullying.

- Weak HR:
Never met Company HR even after recruitment. Apeared to be always on vacation!

- Weak Managers:
techno-jargon savvy but bad – more... people managers. Bottom layers learn to flock in groups surviving by mobbing. There is usually a victim, who will be targeted with Rumors, trash talk, misinterpreting, raising voice, sidelining and even verbal abuse. Manager instead of containing the situation went along with the mob.

Lack of leadership
Happened to ask my manager once what he meant by leadership:
for him it was just getting things done, getting the foot in the door and was even "ready to swipe the floor" for money! And he expects to earn a fat paycheck until he retires. No passion about the job, no vision .. No wonder the company has only 3000 employees over a period of 25 years!

Long Term Cons:
Long term did not look a place you would want to stay, unless you have nowhere else to go. If you plan stay long term the skills would not match with the peers elsewhere in the industry. No wonder you have several long timers stuck with the company doing not so relavant activity!

Relieved to be finally out of the mess.. – less

Nice place to stay
HDL IP Developer (Current Employee), Natick, MA – January 13, 2013
The company is moving forward at a relatively slow pace, and it might take a long time to make a small decision.
Good work/life balance at the cost of a not-so-exciting salary.
Free Wednesday breakfast and Friday cookie.
People around are nice and smart.

A great introduction to the corporate world
IT Frontline Support Intern (Current Employee), Natick, MA – December 13, 2012
Pros: free breakfast on wedneday, free doughnuts on friday, free drinks everyday
Cons: campus is under construction
I could never have asked for a better corporate experience. I can't say anything about whether or not they offer competitive salaries, but i'm not sure it matters. You're supposed to love your job and the culture The MathWorks has created makes you look forward to coming to work.

At the end of this internship I will have come out with improved technical – more... skills, time management skills, and especially customer service skills. I know what it feels like to be a key member of a team and now feel ready to take on whatever challenges may be in my future. – less

Upper Management is not aware of the bullying by lower management
Technical Writer of Simulink software (Former Employee), Natick, MA – October 23, 2012
Pros: free trips to nh, excellent benefits, good salaries and bonuses
Cons: advancement is not based on your performance
Management does not enforce the culture/values proposed or the advancement opportunities suggested. In order to advance, someone else has to be demoted. This is a lousy way to run an organization.
There is a great deal of bullying going on by managers via performance reviews.

Good place to work
Senior Software Developer and Architect (Former Employee), Natick, MA – June 14, 2012
Pros: free friday cookies, wednesday breakfasts
Cons: salary a little below par, inconsistent management
MathWorks is great place to work with a decent work life balance unless you are unlucky to work for the wrong manager. However the people are very nice and the company does a good job of taking care of its employees with lots of little perks such as Friday cookies, Wednesday breakfasts, and other sugary items to keep you hopped up through through the – more... day.

The only problem with working at the MathWorks is that there is a culture of doing everything the MathWorks way even if there are perfectly legitimate and industry standard ways or technologies. This can result in potential where all your skills are very MathWorks specific and you become slightly less marketable to other companies. – less

Collaborative environment with bright people and great products
Technical Manager (Current Employee), Cambridge – December 18, 2012
Pros: regular team and company events, stakeholder program, free fruit & drinks
Cons: mathworks don't lead the way in encouraging flexible work options e.g. home-working, part-time working.
MathWorks is a great place to work. It's a collaborative environment with bright people. MATLAB & Simulink are great products that really 'make a difference' in the world and have a very broad range of applications in science, engineering, and finance. There are plenty of opportunities to learn and develop, both formally and informally. It's a very – more... stable company that has been profitable since it's inception and is growing as fast as it can hire good people! The CEO is a role model for learning and self-improvement; he has personally grown the company from 2 people to over 2500. – less
