Pros: meeting new residents and making them smile, inservice and training classes.
Cons: expensive insurance, no raises, no guaranteed hours, poor hr in livonia, to many woman and would be better if it had equally the amount of men as woman.
I use to like the company until other employees made mistakes and as a whole, we were all reprimanded as Patients Care Aides. I've been with the company for a few years with not a single raise, and I've missed work only 4 times due to illness. The corparate staff in Livonia office is not professional by any means and have the worst attitudes towards – more... field staff, especially HR! They never pay you correctly as your pay is never the same per hour each pay period. Holiday and over time pay? Yeah, when pigs fly!
The company has poor supervisors many of whom never managed a single company before. The medical benefits are ridiculous as you'd think how much they charge for service's, that the company would contribute more your health care. The cost is half your bi-weekly pay check every month. Hundreds of dollars and get this..its only medical and for certain benefits. Vision and dental are all out of pocket to be reimbursed but you'll never know when you'll ever see your money back.
Id never speak bad about a company but these past few months, the company has gone down hill. I reallybdid enjoyit when iI first started and loved my residents. Even the residents now complain about the company, not the actual staff within their building. By the way, sad but true, you don't make what your job description according the labor statistics estimates. They under pay you and classify you as a home health aide and if applying at another job and they call for a reference and you are applying as a Patient Care Technician, they will say its not the same experience! You'll get under $11.00 per hour and the hours are not guaranteed. PCTs, and PCAs on average make minimum $14+ per hour.
This company also has lots of clicks and favouritism...please read all reviews. I've finally been able to put my notice in as I was offered a better job plus benefits and better pay with another home care company who said due to my experience and knowledge, I was an asset and will be treated like one!
Don't waste your time unless you really don't care about your money, but you do love helping the elderly. This is a great job to start out with out of school, bit don't settle and get suckered into staying. – less
