Prepare direct and indirect tax returns, tax depreciation schedules, supporting schedules for tax returns; perform FAS 109 calculations; gather information for audits and respond to information document requests; support tax management with tax planning, tax research, analysis of tax-driven and non tax-driven transactions and other tax projects on an as assigned basis.
SCOPE of POSITION: No Supervisory Responsibilities
This position is an individual contributor and has no supervisory responsibilities.
MAJOR DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES and ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
40% Preparation of tax returns, including supporting schedules, under supervision of tax management.
15% Gathering information in support of tax audits.
10% Research tax consequences of transactions, under supervision of tax management.
15% Perform FAS 109 calculations and prepare supporting workpapers (tax accounting).
5% Other projects on an as assigned basis.
5% Self development.
Education: Bachelor's Degree
Course of Study/Major: Accounting or related field
Related Work Experience:
Minimum of 2+ (4 - 6 preferred) years of experience in federal and multi-state income tax compliance required.
Knowledge of RIA InSource tax return software (or equivalent) required; experience with indirect tax returns (property and excise tax) preferred; experience with consolidated federal income tax returns preferred; some international tax and FAS 109 experience helpful; knowledge of aviation taxation helpful.
Other skills needed: strong accounting skills, strong communication skills, including written communication skills; excellent computer skills in the area of data manipulation, using Excel, Access and PowerPoint; effective problem solving skills; action and results oriented; ability to work independently and to meet deadlines; attention to detail.
