Externship- Medical Billing (Former Employee), Corona, CA –
I spent 1 month doing my externship for my Billing and Coding Diploma at The Outsource Group. It was a great experience, great hands on training. Co-workers were very pleasant.

Revolving Door Company with Unrealistic Micromanagement
Client Representative (Former Employee), Charlotte, NC –
Pros: get to work on multiple issues or areas.
Cons: high turn over, unrealistic productivity goals, total lack of class and character on all levels.
I worked at this company for two years as a client representative in healthcare billing. This company runs multiple "companies" under one roof and hires a wide range of class of people. They do everything from medical billing following up to collecting payments from people who broke apartment leases. It divides employees into "teams." No position is – more...  constant, is based off project availability and often has unrealistic "productivity standards." Your position and manager can change at any given moment. In the two years I worked there approximately 10 or more different people came and went in the desk beside me. After about 6 months on my job I looked around and noticed I had been there longer than pretty much everyone on my team. The majority either quit or were fired within a 6 month time frame. The door code is changed after the turnover. The door code changes as much as seven times in one day. There is constant micromanagement in every aspect of the job including what type of drink container you use, bathroom time, breaks and etc. At one time our three minute grace period for clocking in and out was taken away. You could not clock out one minute early or late. This is an impossible goal to reach when you are standing in line with 30 other women waiting to clock in. Every minute on the job must be accounted for & explained. They constantly threaten to do stuff like take mirrors away in the bathroom because they felt people were taking too long looking in the bathroom mirror. Human Resources is no resource to the employee. The HR manager is a clueless tool of an unrealistic upper management that cannot even answer basic questions or effectively deal with employee issues. The company bills all clients based off worked hours and the number of employees utilized. It is the only company I have ever worked for that has zero interest in the quality of work or tenure of employees. It appears to have instead made the decision to get the absolute most it can out of each person until it moves on to the next. They care only about flashing big numbers to clients (that have absolutely no value) and having someone sitting in a chair that they can bill the client for. Because of the constant turn over you often find yourself working with people of very little class or character. When I worked there the bathrooms were constantly being locked down for people doing stuff like spreading feces on the bathroom walls. – less

Typical with poor Mangement
COLLECTOR (Former Employee), Florissant, MO –
Pros: motivational incentives
Cons: pulled from breaks, inquedate kitchen facilities, and poor mangement
I collected by phone, took CC payments, for "The Children's Hospital of Alabama from Outsource. Unfortunately they changed managers, (the same one I had prior to this job) who had let me go after pulling me from Client Services, for his own drama related life.

We work as a team
Medical Billing Representative (Current Employee), Charlotte, NC –
What I like about working at The Outsource Group is that we work as a team. I feel like we are family, working together for the better of the practices or physicians and also the customers or patients. The managers and supervisors are people prepare for the job and available for anything the employees need, which i think is very important for the better – more...  of the employees and also the job. A typical day at work for me is; i go in at 8:00a first thing in the morning i key charges for one of the practices we work with, this would take me 3hrs. After that i mail claims out, i pull EOBS out and also work on correspondence we receive from insurance company or practices, also on return mails. We also take all kinds of calls, like patient calls, nursing home calls, or insurance calls, I work on the accounts depending on what their needs are, could be payments, general insurance questions, financial insurance questions, sending itemized bills, collections, adjusting balances, etc. The last thing i do is insurance follow up until is time to go, which is 4:30p. – less

Reconcile patient and customer accounts (Former Employee), Columbia, MO –
An aggressive personality is needed for this type of position. You gain an enormous capability to handle elevated demanding environments with grace and elegance. Every day is filled with new adventures and work flow. There are a set of task at hand for the work week that must be done in a timely fashion with the expectation of new task being added throughout – more...  the day. – less
