I thoroughly enjoy The Roasterie as a company but when it comes to giving their employees (baristas in this case) what they deserve, they just don't seem to cut it.
All of their locations have different volumes of traffic, one store may have a larger customer base vs. others. The outcome of this is that many baristas at various locations are getting cut short because their tip income can be remarkably low and their base pay of $8.00 does not make ends meet. With a successful business such as The Roasterie, I personally think barista starting pay could be raised to at LEAST $9. Baristas rely on their tips, especially with a poor starting wage of $8. It's just not fair.
I have also seen several instances where an average barista or team lead will be told to train someone, do inventory, ordering, etc. and they don't get compensated for it? Those are jobs dedicated to management and trainers that are getting PAID a higher salary to take on such tasks.
Again, I love The Roasterie and I love the people I have met through the company, but they don't treat their cafe staff fairly and in that aspect, things need to change.
