Lead Physical Therapy Aide, Poway, CA - February 10, 2018
High demand for multi tasking and precise execution of patient care. The day can be slow at times but then the pace really picks up and you have to be ready to be extremely focused and ready to juggle different patients. The staff is fun and they try to make it a really fun environment for physical therapy so it is not a typical sterile clinic and people love to come to their appointments. There are a ton of athletes, it is sports medicine focused. You need to constantly be engaging people and feel comfortable correcting and teaching in a variety of ways until proper technique and understanding is achieved. There is a ton of teamwork and passing off between physical therapists and aides, so communication and initiative are imperative. It is super fun working with the different athletes and my coworkers are really fun. It is hard to plan ahead when there are a lot of patients at once but as long as you stay calm or at least project a calm face, everything can be worked out. It is hard to find coverage for time off but if enough notice is given it can usually be worked out. I have learned how to interact with all kinds of people in all kinds of situations. I have learned how to be a part of a medical team that relies on every person to provide optimal care.
