The Vancouver Clinic has very rigid and old policies for their employees. One is only allowed 6 occurrences (absences) per year. They have nothing that protects employees from forced absences due to weather related issues. In order for you absence to be considered excused you have to give 24 hour notice which is fine for normal PTO days but not if you have an emergency. Usually you don't have 24 hour notice for an emergency. That is what makes it an emergency.
