Assistant Manager (Former Employee), North Bergen, NJJuly 23, 2015
Working at The Vitamin Shoppe was one of my most favorite jobs. I enjoyed that everyday i was consistently developing my knowledge of product and had all the resources at my finger tips to continuously learn more about supplementation. If i was unsure of a solution for a customers situation i was always able to find one fast and effectively. Striving to help customers embrace a healthy lifestyle was my personal motivation to continue to learn and embrace my position as a health enthusiast.

Assistant Manager (Current Employee), MDJuly 16, 2015
Pros: good discount, great learning material
Cons: not enough hours and low pay for part timers
good company with bad execution. It seems that they do not know what direction they want to go in. There is not much room for advancement beyond assistant manager. They give you guidelines to help with customer issues, but when the customer complains it is your fault, no matter if you did what was right or not. They need to find an identity and employ more people per store. No one can afford to work for 8 9 dollars an hour and only 12 hours a week.

Assistant Manager (Current Employee), Clearwater, FLJune 30, 2015
Cons: Pay.
Outstanding company policy, customer relations, employee relations and awesome mission. This company is growing by leaps and bounds in a struggling economy. They do so by offering a wide range of products at a great price, they are moving with the times, updating social media and staying hip with the latest trends. They are in great local locations and promote great customer service. They treat their employees well and give fantastic room for growth.

Sales Associate (Current Employee), Greenville, NCJune 14, 2015
Upon employment you complete The Vitamin Shoppe University. This program educates you on compliment alternative therapies and more. A typical day would include customer service, education on supplements and listening to clients overall goals. I learned many functions of herbal supplements. The most enjoyable part of the job is referring a plan or supplement to help with the clients goals and the customer comes back and thanks you for the great results. Most rewarding job I have ever had.

Health Enthusiast (Current Employee), New York, NYJune 4, 2015
Cons: As a sales associate you get little to no benefits, will move you around to different stores based on their own company needs.
A typical day working for this company would include several rushes of customers, anywhere from 15 to 50 totes of shipment, that have to be stocked during the day, and many daily tasks. Some of those tasks include opening the store, cleaning glass and counter surfaces, and adjusting store products. Closing tasks would include sweeping, mopping, recounting cash registers, wiping down surfaces again , and adjusting store products. Co-workers are friendly and the company is very tight knit, but this can be a problem to someone who is looking for privacy when speaking to managers and co-workers. Hardest part of the job would be learning all the information but it is also the most enjoyable part because you get to properly inform your customers of what it is they need.

Fast Pace environment, must have upbeat personality, opportunities for personal growth
Sales Associate (Current Employee), New York, NYMay 22, 2015
This is a company that requires a lot of patience and time, it will teach you a lot about the health and fitness industry, but there are not that many promotional opportunities, who you know can be more important than what you know when working for this company. A lot of the times some managers do not follow the companys rules or procedures and the DM does not respect confidentiality so be very careful what you divulge because you don't want to make an uncomfortable work environment for yourself. You will be moved around a lot and you get no respect or benefits as a Health Enthusiast. If applying to this company, apply for a higher position because the turnover rate of health enthusiast is VERY high for good reasons.
