The cat's out of the bag about bag-in-the-box wine. The Wine Group's Franzia, which comes in a box, dominates US boxed wines. One of the largest wine producers in the world, The Wine Group (TWG) offers bargain and premium wines, both bottled and boxed. Its brand names include Corbett Canyon, Almaden, Foxhorn, and Fish Eye. It imports wine as well, including Mistrane from France and Austin Vale from Australia. TWG also operates Underdog Wine Merchants, which offers offbeat wines such as Pinot Evil, Big House, Herding Cats, and Tempra Tantrum, which are designed to appeal to younger consumers. Once part of Coca-Cola , TWG is a partnership formed in 1981 to buy Franzia Brothers Winery, Mogen David, and Tribuno.
Adding to its Griffith winery operation in Australia, TWG in August 2011 acquired Loxton winery from Australian Vintage Ltd. Loxton is currently Australia's fourth-largest winery with an annual capacity of 90,000 tons. – less
