Awesome place to work
Sales Associate and Engraver (Current Employee), Green Bay, WI – January 10, 2013
Pros: good work environment, flexible scheduling
Cons: only get a raise if you make your goal
I love working here. I still fill in from time to time. Management is amazing!

Uncomfortable, immature coworkers, not what I wanted
seasonal sales associate (Former Employee), Temecula, CA – January 7, 2013
Pros: some employees very nice
Cons: management/assistment management
A typical day was pouncing on customers, not taking "no" for an answer...not sure if all stores are like this. I was not allowed to spend time helping customers...had to get back to dusting to wait for more customers, which was stupid, as I'm good at helping customers. Asst. manager talked about how much she wanted a baby in front of other employees – more... and customers. Was not a professional place. Hardest part of the job was trying to find out information on products, such as watches, in case a customer would ask me. Manager had no clue...just referred me to some book they had, I would have read the book, but was never quite sure where the book was. – less

Fun place to work
Store Manager (Current Employee), Watertown, NY – January 4, 2013
Pros: no micromanaging, bonus potentials, fun fast paced environment
Cons: scheduling, working all holidays, all saturdays, i needed to be available 100% of the time in order to make sure the store was functioning properly
selling and converting shoppers to buyers
I've learned valuable communication skills as well
as problem solving skills.
I have great co-workers and minimal supervision.
the hardest part of the job is lack of feedback from my supervisor.
I enjoyed working with my staff, superiors and co-workers/mentors.

a wonderful place to work
Sales associate (Former Employee), Garden City, NY – December 12, 2012
a typical day of work is to help customer with work orders and try to meet daily goals set for the store and individuals. Management is great and the co-workers are good people. The most enjoyable part of the job is the whole experience of being there.

Not so great as the ads
Sales Associate (Former Employee), Las Vegas, NV – December 11, 2012
Cons: few hours, not a positive place
My co-workers were never on time, nor did they have a positive attitude. I am a very punctual person, so when I arrived early to open the store, I was highly disappointed when a co-worker that needed to be there early as well, showed up much later.

Fun, Creative
Crew/Engraver (Former Employee), Merrillville, IN – December 7, 2012
A typical day would find me cleaning, helping customers and engraving. I learned to be more receptive to another's opinion and input. My management team was excelent. They were never too busy to help you with anything. The hardest part of my job would have been taking the chance to engrave something that I wasn't confident it could be engraved. I did – more... mess up once in awhile and I delt with the consequences. I loved this job because it appealed to my creative side. And I got to see alot of customers happy with their new family treasures. – less

Great Customers
sales associate (Former Employee), Johnstown Pa – December 2, 2012
Pros: nice discount
Cons: no proper leadership in all levels
I was not properly or extensively trained on engraving various items.
Management was 23yrs old with no concern for quality of engraving for customer.
Drama filled,backbiting,general lack of leadership.
I was not paid the agreed amount, per hour.
large turnover in employees

J1j1 – February 2, 2013

I was also not properly trained to engrave merchandise. I noticed the "manager" spent more days at the Altoona store than her store,so she had associates do all her work. Daily banking and company paperwork was not completed by manager for months and she herself violated more company policy rules, then had employees written up for the same thing. The District Manager is also worthless as he covers the managers butt for corporate???(why, I wonder) BIG turnover in employees and assistant managers. Until the Manager and District manager are gone don't bother applying for the job!

It's a nice place to work.
Sales Associate (Current Employee), Tampa, FL – November 30, 2012
Pros: meeting new people would be it
Cons: no breaks because i don't work enough hours and getting paid on a card instead of an actual check
It's a nice place to work and are flexible with my hours. The company only has about 6 permanent workers during the non season. I was only hired seasonal and only get about 8 hours every other week and don't even receive a actual check but a pay card which kind of sucks. But the people I work with are nice and the manager is awesome. Sometimes trying – more... to get people to engrave and buy promotional items can be difficult. – less

Seasonal
Seasonal Employee (Former Employee), Cherry Valley, IL – November 26, 2012
My job was seasonal so I didn't do a whole lot, but it was a busy environment, everyone was able to keep up and do what was needed, keeping the store organized and very neat, helping customers and being personable with them.

Easy but very boring
Retail Sales Associate (Former Employee), Newark, DE – November 13, 2012
This job is extremely easy and an average day would consist of just helping customers and engraving the items. The hardest part of the job is knowing how to engrave correctl but when you learn that the job is extremely easy.

Great atmosphere!
Sales Associate (Former Employee), Dothan, AL – November 10, 2012
Pros: great team, good hours
Cons: lots of standing
I loved working for this company even though it was just for the holidays. I enjoyed being able to work with a great team and meet all sorts of people. One of my favorite days at work was when I helped a the husband of a cancer survivor pick out a gift for his wife. The gift turned out beautiful and the next day they both came in and gave me a hug and – more... said thank you. From then on when they came into the store they requested my assistance. I think one of the hardest things about retail is the standing for hours and not getting to take a moment to sit. At the end of the day your feet and back are rather sore. Overall, I really enjoyed working at Things Remembered and would love to work there again! – less

Productive Workplace
Store Manager (Current Employee), Houma, LA – November 7, 2012
A typical day at work consists of satisfying your customers based on their personal needs. We engrave memorable items for customers for various reasons: weddings, birthdays, Mother's Day, religious reasons, etc. We strive to make these items perfect for their special day. We push for sales that will help to meet or exceed or budget for the day. My co-workers – more... are perfect for the job.. very outgoing and willing to HELP. The hardest part of this job would have to be working alone during peak hours. Instead of giving each customer your full attention, you then have to share your attention when you have multiple customers. Multitasking is a duty you must have in this workplace. The most enjoyable part of this job is seeing your customers smile. I love to see a satisfied customer, not only because you know they will be back, but because you truly have made their day and anticipated event special. – less

Fun environment
Seasonal Sales/Customer Service Ambassador (Former Employee), Greenwood, IN – November 6, 2012
Pros: great working environment
Cons: seasonal and low wages
I worked here seasonally and loved it for 3 years! I made minimum wage but got 40% off on merchandise! I could have moved up in management but I had to move to another town and the drive was too far. Hardest part of my job was balancing my other full time job with this one and the most enjoyable part of my job was opening up the boxing and seeing new – more... merchandise – less

Typically each day involves the same basic routine. What makes each day different is the customers you work with. The management where I worked is very friendly and easy to work with. The hardest part about this job is pleasing all customers and the most enjoyable part is staying late with co-workers engraving, cleaning and small talk in a much more – more... relaxed envirnoment. – less
