CAMC Health System is a catalyst for care in Charleston. The health network includes flagship facility Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC), which is the largest hospital in West Virginia and consists of three campuses with some 840 beds total. The system also includes the CAMC Health Education and Research Institute, which coordinates education programs for medical students from West Virginia University. In addition, the health system operates smaller rural hospital CAMC Teays Valley and several urgent care and family practice clinics. CAMC Health System operates an online medical information system designed to communicate with health professionals statewide.
The three campuses of CAMC include CAMC General Hospital, CAMC Memorial Hospital, and CAMC Women and Children's Hospital, all of which are located in Charleston. Specialty services at the hospitals include cardiology, kidney transplants, trauma, and pediatrics. The CAMC Institute conducts graduate and continuing education courses; it also connects education and health care through clinical research projects in areas such as cancer and cardiovascular studies. The Teays Valley Hospital is a 70-bed facility located in nearby Hurricane, West Virginia. – less
