Great People to work with!
Teacher (Current Employee) – Loveland, CO – August 11, 2016
Thompson has some of the hardest working teachers, administrators, and staff I have ever worked with in my 10 years of teaching. Every building is dedicated to the success of children, and it really is inspiring to work with such a wonderful team.
The district cannot commit to a single instructional decision, making variations in curriculum, policies, and technological platforms very difficult to keep up with. In the four years I've been in this district, we have always had something new. It's difficult to really analysis the progress of students when we have no consistency.
The district pay scale is the lowest in northern Colorado. It is very difficult to own a home in such an expensive community on just a teacher's salary--as I'm slowly coming to terms with this issue, it's impossible. If you don't have another source of income, don't plan on living and working in Loveland. Also, the benefits are not that great, so just hope you don't need to go to the ER often.
Although every employer has its downfalls, Thompson still has a lot of positive aspects to it besides the great staff. There is a lot of educational innovations that are happening inside every classroom, instructional coaches push educators to be their best, administrators are compassionate and allow room for professional growth, the parents in our community are amazing, and everyone has the same vision for children.
