We have an immediate opening for a qualified Supervising Registered Nurse.
SUPERVISING REGISTERED NURSE
This position is responsible for all nursing functions at the clinic site assigned and is also responsible for implementing strategies to meet and exceed all standards and objectives for the department. By sharing time between administrative duties and working the nursing floor, the Supervising RN integrates hands-on experience with management skills to guide and supervise RNs, LVNs, and MAs in the efficient performance of their duties to assure compliance with established standards and procedural requirements. The Supervising RN will be accountable for issues of site-specific quality control and compliance and maintaining clear and organized records on all matters of compliance for a designated site, including OSHA, CLIA, and Immunizations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Supervising RN works alongside nursing staff to provide hands-on care including: medications and injections to patients as directed by the providers; immunizations; treatments; referrals to other providers and community health resources; and health instruction to patients as needed. The position monitors patient flow and directs MAs assigning them to appropriate provider in preparation of patients and exam rooms. The Supervising RN acts as resource person for nursing and MA staff to answer questions, coach, and supervise current staff in the performance of their job duties. The position performs real-time problem solving on the clinical floor to address everyday issues of staffing, workflow, triage call volume and all other general nursing functions. Documents, investigates and responds to concerns, issues, and complaints at the first level quickly and appropriately and reports all operational issues promptly to the Director of Nursing to avoid repeat of inefficiencies and to improve overall quality in the department.
The Supervising RN participates with Quality Assurance, Emergency Preparedness, Electronic Health Record implementation, compliance and other programs. The Supervising RN also conducts regular performance evaluations for all nursing and MA staff as well as in documenting performance concerns in a timely manner and implements performance improvement and progressive discipline plans, if needed. The position is accountable for the preparation of nursing and Medical Assistant schedules to assure adequate coverage and provides the Director of Operations feedback and recommendations for the scheduling of vacation and sick leaves for the nursing department.
Other duties include the coordination of effective use of supplies, equipment and facilities and works with the licensed nursing staff to perform inventory and determine the urgency, priority and needs of the department prior to approving purchase requisitions; assists in the orientation and training of new employees and participates in their ongoing training; participates in clinical staff and other meetings as required: works collaboratively among clinical and administration departments to address issues including those related to patient scheduling, handling of triage calls and drop-ins, and all related issues impacting the efficient operations of the clinical floor; performs other related duties as may be assigned; and performs all duties and responsibilities in compliance with TVHC's Service Excellence Standards.
The applicant must possess a valid California Registered Nurse license, current CPR certification, valid California Driver's License, auto insurance, and accept travel assignments on the job as directed. A minimum of two years nursing experience in an outpatient clinic with responsibility in administration, a minimum one year supervisory experience, and prior experience with Quality Assurance and Utilization Management required. Must also have the ability to relate appropriately to, communicate effectively with, and develop trusting relationships with diverse patient population and with staff. The applicant should demonstrate ability to motivate staff, promote team building, and assume leadership role within clinical area. Must show flexibility in regards to job duties and assignments. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
