We currently have an opening for a full-time Youth Health Services Manager. The position is responsible for the oversight of Logan Health Center, which includes working closely with school districts, school administration, program funders, internal and external stakeholders and TVHC staff and management. The Youth Health Services Manager will provide strategic and hands-on support to the Director of Youth Health Services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Youth Health Services Manager maintains current knowledge of all matters related to youth empowerment. The position is responsible for creating and maintaining conditions that ensure highest standards of practice across multiple disciplines. In addition, will manage practical aspects of clinic functioning, and performs analysis and planning for target services to patients/clients of school based clinical site. S/he must develop and implement target marketing/outreach strategies to educate local communities on services available through the school based health center and TVHC. Serves as lead in electronic health record and practice management systems at school based sites, supervises Health Educators, Financial Screener and other relevant staff as needed. Along with other duties assigned by supervisor.
The candidate must demonstrate the ability to provide leadership to staff and build the trust and respect of management staff. Knowledge of funding sources and insurances is required. Bilingual in English and one of the following: Spanish, Tagalog, Vietnamese, Farsi, or Punjabi strongly preferred; Accurate and excellent attention to detail is a must. Excellent verbal communication skills necessary to communicate effectively even under stressful situations is essential. The candidate must have intermediate computer knowledge Windows 95 or higher and skills in Microsoft and Excel. Culturally sensitive and demonstrated ability and effectiveness in working with ethnically diverse adolescent populations is necessary. The candidate must understand issues particular to adolescent populations, including adolescent development and health issues. The candidate must possess knowledge and ability to implement the peer leadership and youth empowerment model.
Bachelor's degree, in public health, counseling, psychology, social work, or related field, minimum of three or more years experience working with adolescent population adequate to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of special needs of population. Previous experience working with school-based health centers preferred; three or more years of experience working with ethnically diverse populations adequate to demonstrate knowledge and sensitivity to issues of cultural differences, three or more years implementing peer leader and/or conflict resolution programs strongly preferred.
At least two years experience working in one or more of the following areas: clinical health education, community health education, community organizing, and/or youth empowerment. As well as two or more years in year's case management and counseling experience strongly preferred, working with parents of adolescents strongly preferred, supervising and managing staff, and of community organizing and community action training preferred.
