Linen Attendent (Former Employee), Torrance, CAAugust 10, 2014
Pros: excellent benefits
Cons: the supervisors didnt communicate too well so alot of times they didnt know what was going on.
I would get to work print out the papers off the computer for all the areas of the hospital I would have deliver linen. Then I would stock my cart with linen and distribute linen to all my areas. I enjoyed working my co-workers they were all really hard working and professional. the hardest part of my job was if the hospital was busy then all the floors – more... would be calling for linen all night so I would have to keep going back to the same floors. The most enjoyable part was it was really fast paced so I always styed busy there was always some work to do. – less

GREAT ORGANIZATION
Scheduling (Former Employee), Torrance, CAJune 25, 2014
TMMC is a great hospital to work for. The employees are great and the hospital is gorgeous. Management at TMMC treats everyone fairly with an equal amount of respect. There wasn't anything hard about this job for me. The most enjoyable part of the job were the managers and co-workers. They made everything fun and easy as they were always willing to – more... help. – less

Non-invasive Cardiovascular Technologist (Former Employee), Torrance, CAMarch 18, 2014
Pros: location
Cons: hr, management, racial tension
Faced with racial tension daily, not offered classes nor upward movement . Racial slurs expected and not addressed by Management. Worked here 10 yrs and lt was the worst 10 yrs dealing with being called colored by visitors , discriminated by the doctors and staff daily.

Hospital Floor Technician (Former Employee), torrance caFebruary 24, 2014
I didn't have a good working experience in this place. I was isolated from amongst my other co-workers and told by the evs director dont fall into their work habits. So for four months straight (only missing two work related days) I burst my hump working three floors in eight hours, getting the work done, looking to being a permanent team member and then – more... all of a sudden three other(s) were hired and I was let go.Can you believe that.On the same day. The most enjoyable part of the job was some of the people I met that worked in other dept. Guess I should have believed them when they said...... – less

Technician (Former Employee), Torrance, CAJanuary 23, 2014
Pros: it was a pay check and learning experience
Cons: work environment, unhappy employees
I worked here longer than I should have. It certainly was a good place to start, but I would have to encourage anyone who starts here to keep your sights on a place that appreciates hard work and dedication. Absorb all you can (if this is your first hospital exp.) and then move on to better. This hospital is run by bullies from the very top, right down – more... to management. Cliques all over the place. If you don't "fit into them" you are sure to have your hours cut and walk into the very gates of hell each day you clock in. HR does nothing to protect those who are preyed on by management, their behavior is actually encouraged by HR. Applicant beware. Keep looking.. You can do so much better than this place. – less

A workplace that I once considered my second home.
Secretary (Former Employee), Torrance, CANovember 20, 2013
Pros: loved the lunches from the reps.
Cons: very isolated towards the last 3 months no small talks at all, not even during our breaks in the office.
I enjoyed walking into my job everyday, greeting everyone in the office. Everyday I grabbed coffee before clocking in. Then rushed into my little office to check on urgent emails and voicemails and the day went on. Preparing checks into batches for bank deposits everyday, Scanning, Ordering supplies, Data entry, preparing the Doctors payroll biweekly, – more... filing, etc. The job is difficult because I had to be extremely meticulous, but it kept me on my toes. Once new management came along the job became difficult because they were improvising our job duties. I loved it when I distributed the doctors check because they always thanked me for not making a mistake that would delay their check. – less

Unit Secretary (Former Employee), Torrance, CAOctober 12, 2013
Pros: good benefits, discount prescriptions, on site child care, on site university
Cons: short breaks, short staffed, frequent overtime, low wages, no room for advancement
Torrance Memorial Medical Center was a fun learning experience. Everyone from environmental services to nurses and physicians were knowledgeable, caring and dedicated to their delivery of patient care services. I learned to work among different ethnic groups as well as communicate with different ethnic groups and their family members. Management in – more... the ICU was flexible with our schedule and assignments. The most enjoyable part of the job is the team work and friendly work environment. My co-workers always made me feel like we were a "family". The hardest part of the job is consoling family members of very sick or dying patients. – less
