Central Control Operator (Former Employee) – Central Control – August 13, 2017
I enjoyed working there for the whole time I was there. Great work environment, always something to learn if you wanted to learn. Great pay, good people to work with. Made for a good place to work. Good insurance and benefits too.
Abliltiy to go in and do your job, and no one complained, only gave you direction if it needed to be changed.
Had to work overtime more than I would have liked. Kind of alienated my family at times.
this company is based in Europe. Does not celebrate US Holidays such as 4th of July. If you work in accounting you will be required to work this holiday because it falls on closing. I retired 7/15/2015
good health benefits
must work holidays if it falls on closing-this is not a US company
Unit Shift Leader Tech Tester (Current Employee) – Port Arthur, TX – June 6, 2017
Good company and room to advance with hard work there are always new positions and they would always rather promote from within though you are required to work a minimum of two years in your current position before you can apply for a different position
Great company to work for however Accounting Mangers are not the best. Enjoyed working downtown Houston. The office was nice and the company was great with the damage from Hurricane Ike which destroyed our work areas.
Lab Supervison/Fuels Compliance (Current Employee) – Port Arthur, TX – June 16, 2016
Total has provided a good living for many years and allowed advancement to a point. It is a French company still in the grip of the turmoil of moving from a middle tier E&P/Petrochemical company to an oil major after absorbing Fina and Elf about 15 years ago. There are not many opportunities for advancement for those who did not attend school in France or for those who do not wish an overseas assignment. But, all-in-all it has been a good place to work.
Good work atmosphere
Turmoil, lower pay than some other major oil companies
Process Operator/ OM&S Dept. Terminal Operator (Current Employee) – Port Arthur, TX – November 18, 2012
Tensions run high among hourly vs salary(mgt)employees. Safety is stressed from mgt but it is expected that the job be done by any means necessary as safely as possible to meet deadlines. Working in a team enviroment with my cowokers is the best part of my job.
The company has been a nice place to work just no room for advancement.
Process Technician (Current Employee) – Carville, LA – October 11, 2012
A typical day at Total Petrochemicals, Inc. is pretty ordinary. I have worked for the company for 12 years and there just isn't much room for advancement. The hardest part of the job is the shift work and the most enjoyable part is the coworkers.
