Touchtown Inc.

Touchtown was formed in February 1999. The company's design team has worked for four years to understand the causes and effects of social isolation, what the barriers are to seniors gaining the benefits of the internet, and how to overcome those barriers. We have experimented with many different approaches to solving this problem, ranging from immersive – more... virtual reality environments to building a series of specialized senior-friendly computers.

In order to ensure that this revised version of Touchtown would meet customer needs, we formed the Senior Connect Partnership, an informal consortium of senior living owner/providers. The Partnership consists of 16 member organizations serving over 30,000 residents. It guides the development of Touchtown's functional specs, provides us with a major positioning advantage, and is expected to form the nucleus of our long term customer base.

Our founder, President and CEO is Jeff Pepper, one of the Pittsburgh region's most successful technology entrepreneurs. Jeff is the founder of ServiceWare Inc., now ServiceWare Technologies (NASDQ:SVCW), a leading provider of knowledge based software and content to the customer support market. He founded ServiceWare in the basement of his home in 1991 and served as President and CEO until 1998, growing the company to an industry-dominant position with 200 employees, over 4,000 corporate customers including Microsoft, Apple, Citibank and Charles Schwab, and revenues of over $25 million/year. Jeff was named Western Pennsylvania High Technology Entrepreneur of the Year in 1996. Jeff has published two books: the award-winning We're Off to Seize the Wizard: The Revolution in Service Automation (1991, 1993) and Smart Support: How to Transform Your Support Organization by Leveraging What You Know (1999). He has published dozens of articles and papers on the use of advanced technology, has spoken at over 200 industry conferences worldwide, and co-holds two U.S. patents. Jeff currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Pittsburgh Technology Council, and founded the Software CEO Roundtable. He holds a BS in Mathematics from Carnegie Mellon University.

The company also receives guidance from its Board of Directors, the Advisory Board and the Council of Elders. – lessMore from ZoomInfo »
