Internal and external customers call with 75 % of the calls being complaints about water and sewer service. Processing work orders take time and efforts with customers constantly calling and sometimes demanding immediate resolutions to their complaint.
No compliments from management, who also have busy schedules and have to hear about the errors I found and solutions to improve process.
Working with employees whose claim to fame is their length of service instead of their accomplishments and avoiding conflicts in personality and style was a constant strain on my energy.
Having to tell a senior employee that they made a mistake using customer care only to hear them get angry and use verbally abusive language. Missing files that would turn up days to weeks later.
Being told you are only a temp as if that were a bad thing. Identifying personal, racially and sexually inappropriate behavior and being told it is standard.
The work was easy for me because I combined experience in accounting, receptionist and legal to respond to issues. The difficult part of the work was co workers who do not respect my time and office space. The do not ask are you busy or is this a good time? Trying to explain to co-workers who has been working at a company for a long time that that kind of behavior is offensive, when everyone does it.
