If I had it to do all over I would not work for them.
Independent Contractor Truck Owner (Current Employee), Indianapolis, IN – August 31, 2014
Pros: you get to see whats its like to get worked over
Cons: your not making money they are.
Towne takes from its drivers every thing they can from lift gate charges to home delivery. They even have the nerve to take 2% from the fuel money that Pilot gives the driver.
You're not working for yourself, your are a slave to Towne Air Freight! Some of the dispatchers treat the drivers like dumb people - no respect at all! Makes a person quit and – more... go work for a company where they pay the cost to be the boss.
none of the information you get is ever right you do what the dispatchers need to do before it comes to you. – less
Corporate Recruiter (Former Employee), Los Angeles, CA – August 16, 2014
Pros: decsent pay
Cons: no support
I received no help with trying to get the impossible to become possible with hiring Owner Operators. This company will not grow if they do not find a steady structure of hierarchy to implement what is needed.
great pay , good location, job security unclear good benefits
Forklift operator (Former Employee), Elk Grove Village, IL – July 3, 2013
Pros: good pay, good hours, great people
Cons: job security
A typical day at work for Towne air freight consisted of obtaining labels and papers that detailed the contents of the truck. The contents of that truck are then labeled and transferred to another trailer where it will be transported to its intended destination. Co-workers were decent guys. The hardest part about this job is trying to maintain a fast – more... pace in dealing with freight. The most enjoyable part of this job was the camaraderie between fellow co-workers. – less
Loading Operator (Former Employee), Houston, TX – April 19, 2013
A typical day at work is generally okay until things begin to fall apart due to poor manaement decisions. Co-Workers were not so friendly so that for me was the most difficult part of the job. The best part to me was the rate of pay and driving my forklift.
Weekend Dispatcher / Dock Worker (Current Employee), Eagan, MN – March 19, 2013
The people are good to work with. Typical day is lading trailers with a forklift. After so many years of loading is it seems to be easy and enjoying work. Loading a trailer is like putting a puzzle together.
Customer service (Former Employee), arlington heights – February 26, 2013
Pros: team players
lots of phone calls throughout the day. very heavy customer service. I learned to have patience with someone who is upset about frieght not making it on time. Management was wonderful. I was able to go to school and still work full time. My co-workers were a great team. Hardest part of this job was the stress and time constrictions. Most enjoyable part – more... of this job was they appreciated there employees, had pic nics and social events. – less
