Toyota Boshoku wants to make your car ride more comfortable. The company develops auto interior components, including seats, fabric goods, air bags, and seat belt webbing. Toyota Boshoku also makes air, oil, and gas filters, power train components, and bumpers and fender liners. The company uses recycled materials in its products to reduce the impact – more... on the environment. Founded in 1918 by Toyoda Boshoku Sieto, the company makes seats for Toyo Motor's Yaris model. Toyota Boshoku has about 70 locations around the globe. Toyota Motor is a leading shareholder.

The company functions through its three business segments;  the largest is Interior Components, representing almost 90% of its annual revenues. Other segments include Filtration and Power Train Components, as well as Textiles, Exterior Components, and Other Business. These businesses serve customers in the Americas, Asia, and Europe, and Africa. Based on these regions, the company is focusing on overseas expansion.

The company ramped up its interior operation in mid-2011 with the acquisition of Austria-based POLYTEC Holding's interior business. The deal will give Toyota Boshoku manufacturing and research facilities in Germany, Poland, and South Africa. Toyota Boshoku agreed in 2009 to merge its automotive fabric business with Kawashima Selkon Textiles and Toyota Tsusho Corporation. The new company, which is named TB Kawashima, will produce fabrics for seats and doors, headliners, as well as other interior fabrics for automobiles, trains, and aircraft. Toyota Boshoku holds a 35% stake in the joint venture. The company is also partnered with Japan-based automotive parts maker Aisin Seiki to produce car interior parts in Poland. The joint venture, which is 70% controlled by Toyota Boshoku, is called TBAI Poland. Production, scheduled to begin in 2011, will supply the company's seat plants in Russia and Turkey. – less
