The User Experience (UX) Designer is responsible for helping drive the UX strategy and design for TradeKing’s site, mobile apps and social network. The ideal candidate has experience working with cross-functional teams to define and implement UX solutions in a dynamic and fast-paced environment and will help drive the evolution of TradeKing.com into an even more engaging, usable, and responsive site. Depending on background and experience, this candidate may also contribute to the strategy, design and implementation of a new content management system.

This role works closely with the company’s Marketing, Product and Technology teams, along with various third-party partners, and is based in Charlotte, North Carolina.

General Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Product, Marketing and Technology on UX strategy for TradeKing sites and interactive channels
  • Engage clients (incl. TradeKing’s User Group) for input into product strategy and designs
  • Collaborate with Product, Marketing and Technology on improved integration of UX principles and practices into the product life cycle
  • Engage users to identify opportunities for improving site usability and responsiveness
  • Capture user requirements and define successful user interactions
  • Craft use cases, wireframes and prototypes, as needed, that articulate the user’s experience
  • Collaborate with Marketing on client acquisition and retention campaigns
  • Identify key usage metrics that enable data-driven decisioning and designs
  • Work with cross-functional teams, lead new design efforts and drive consensus across the organization for proposed approaches

Experience & Skills:
1. Experience:

  • Minimum BA/BS in UX-, design- or communications-related field
  • 3-5 years demonstrated experience in the user experience field
  • Demonstrated experience in and deep understanding of at least 3 of these areas: Information Architecture, Interaction Design, Responsive Design, Visual Design, Content Strategy/Development, Usability Analysis/Testing
  • Proven ability to execute a UX strategy and quantify the results of implementing that strategy
  • Experience leading design efforts and helping drive change and consensus across organizations
  • Process improvement experience

2. Skills:

  • Knowledge of UX best practices, industry trends and techniques of modern interactive design – and the ability to design in whatever style is necessary for the current project
  • Proficiency in design tool(s) of choice (Photoshop, Illustrator, Omnigraffle, Visio, etc.)
  • Passion for innovation and problem-solving
  • Innate ability to understand the “big picture” and differentiate between details and details that matter
  • Ability to balance a passion for understanding and designing for users with business objectives
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment
  • Solid project management and organizational skills
  • Strong communicator who can effectively process constructive feedback while keeping the user and brand in mind
  • Familiarity with interactive marketing, SEO and SEM is a plus
  • Understanding of effective social media strategies is a plus
  • Knowledge of or experience working in financial services and/or regulated environments is a plus
