Affiliated with the University at Albany's Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy, the Institute for Traffic Safety Management and Research (ITSMR) is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving highway safety. ITSMR was originally established in 1978 to provide a link between the State University of New York and New York State government that would facilitate the application of academic expertise to the mitigation and solution of traffic safety problems.
New York State has been a national leader in developing legislative and programmatic countermeasures for major highway safety issues. Since its establishment, ITSMR has been responsible for conducting research supporting the development of many of these countermeasures and evaluations of their effectiveness in reducing motor vehicle crashes, fatalities and injuries. The wide range of highway safety issues addressed by ITSMR includes impaired driving, occupant restraint use, commercial vehicle safety, motorcycle safety, aggressive driving, teen and older drivers, pedestrian safety and distracted driving. – less – More from ZoomInfo »
